The Uninvited is a gem of a movie. The Uninvited is the story of a haunted house, which is bought by an unsuspecting brother and sister. The fun starts right away with a well written story line, a clever plot and first rate acting. Ray Milland and Ruth Hussey are excellent as the brother and sister (Rodrick and Pamela Fitzgerald) purchasers of Windward House. They soon find out it is haunted and start exploring the reasons why. Gail Russel plays Stella a troubled young lady living with her Grandfather, who knows more than he is willing to tell. Donald Crisp plays Commander Beech, Stella's Grandfather. Cornelia Otis-Skinner plays Miss Holloway, a nurse who was Stella's late mother's best friend and owner of a retreat for the mentally ill and hates Stella, has sinister secrets and she is great in this role. Stella,Rodrick, Pamela and the local M.D. work to solve the mysteries of the Windward House and give the audience a great deal of fun along the way. Not to be missed. Wish they would release in DVD format.

This is another one of those gems from Hollywoods golden era of film-making. They just don't make 'em like that anymore and never will either. It is a shame this isn't available on VHS or DVD. Our star William Holden gets into serious legal troubles and is visited by the ghost of Andrew Jackson, who in turn bring along a whole group of famous founding fathers to solve the problem with, of course, very funny situations. Great movie, I haven't seen it in years so forgive the somewhat fuzzy plot summary but trust me it is great film. It has been shown on AMC I believe in the past. This is a early William Holden film and he is in fine form. Brian Donlevy plays Andrew Jackson with Montague Love as Gen. George Washington (great character actor). Let's hope this gem will be available soon
This is an overlooked movie from Hollywood's Golden Age. A cute and funny movie about a newly wed couple, the husband, Dennis O'Keefe who has a guilty secret he feels he must keep from his new bride, who, by-the-way, is still attached to her Mother. Mable, the husband's ex-girlfriend, insists that the secret be out in the open, much to O'Keefe's dismay. They all end up spending a weekend together and the sparks and laughs fly. A real treat for fans of old movies. Gail Patrick is wonderful as Mable. Highly recommend this movies. It is available only in VHS, but hopefully in DVD soon. Charlotte Greenwood is great as the old maid hostess for the weekend. Enjoy!
