Gaiman had a muse, and it has clearly left.
This show is just horrible.
The endless gender and race swapping aside, why did they turn a family of endless into the most ponderous, boring twats? It wasn't hard. Just get good actors to play the roles, and have some fun with it.
Even the fates fell flat, delivering lines with a motherly 'my dearlie' so out of place that the words just hung there, glaring out of sync with the tone the actress chose.
They took something sublime, and turned it into dross. A sparkling dream turned mundane and dead in the light of day.
None of the roles fit, not a single one. Death is plastic and heavy, destiny is laborious and overfull with gravitas, Dream is just whiny, Desire is tryhard and gauche, Despair is too happy and friendly by far and Delirium is quite obviously an attention seeking normie.
Just rubbish
Add in woeful cgi and the most jarring music and you have a show that cements the downfall of Gaiman.

I've not read the books. This review is based purely on the movie itself.
The premise is interesting. You can see the potential for the idea.
However. It is clear that this movie was made with hate. Either as a dance on the loss of an election by Trump, or as a spiteful wish fulfillment after his victory.
It is sad that what could have been a great sci-fi became such a petty act of abuse.
This is quite a thing to say, but its really obvious. Mark Ruffalo's performance was laboured, obvious and done with such blatant dislike for the person he was attempting to vocally copy. The script was lessened by the ham fisted jabs,
All in all, this movie was an opportunity squandered, and an unfortunate insight into the minds of leftists.

I wanted to like this. My kids said they liked it afterwards and seemed excited, but couldn't remember much.
I noticed that after the first third, the pace dropped right off, and everything seemed to be shot in haloed slow motion. As if playing special music makes things meaningful, instead of maybe having any kind of interpersonal reality.
At that point, the kids got restless, and stayed restless until the last part, where Jesus has his last supper.
There are lots of parts to the story of Jesus, and the director had to chose what to keep in and what to leave out.
In this case, several rather meh parts were included, and great time spent on them, while other stuff was ignored completely.
For example, no one helped Jesus with his cross, and no one stuck a spear in his side.
We did git a bit where they auctioned off his clothes, leading to my kids asking, after the barely touched upon resurrection "how did he get his clothes back" .
The harrowing of hell was ignored, and the time spent with the disciples after resurrection was ignored, so both of the betrayal's resolutions were missed.
We also got a really weird scene where the dad, Dickens (who had a far nicer house than in reality), is morphed into Jesus.
So, i'm really not sure on this one. It feels odd.
Well, when they are older, they can see the passion of Christ.
