I imagine that the use of a monkey was, aside from the obvious Robi W connection, to make a splash to pique fan interest and even no fan interest. Fortunately I got my copy from the library so cost is $0. IMHO that's what it is worth, it is a loosely connected bunch of takes on RW life which largely reflect his ego and hard upbringing. Its not a good biopic and the monkey suit doesn't add value IMO, rather it detracts from the story, I am left wondering if Robbie W really is trying in some way to hide from the bio. I can't think of any other reason for the weirdness that is presented. Entertainment level, agin IMO is very low.
Dear me, Robin Hood again, as a kid it was Richard Green on TV every night and now we have a series of movies each with their own take on this legend. Remembering of course that it is just a legend. Essentially my own thought is that as westerns declined in popularity the makers of those movies sought an alternative and "merry England" was a possibility (as are Roman epics etc).
Russell does a credible a job as the professional he is as do the rest of the cast but the film is quite predictable and I couldn't help feeling I was watching Gladiator in Sherwood forest. As an action movie its OK but I really think this subject has been done to death and we should respect the dead and leave them in peace.

Could have been, even should have been great but no sorry, not so good at all. Breif aerial views of the coast mixe in with a variety of self absorbed presenters on their pet subjects most of wich are probably not relevant to the main (or should have been them main) objective of the program. For variety we have interviews with an eclectic mix of odd bods with little to say that improves the theme. (my personal favourite was the professor (?) who spent 20 years studying the concrete audio detectors installed in 1938/9.
What I really wanted to see was the coast and its towns in all their glory.
And finally the main presenter - obviously plonked down randomly to walk for a few yard, waxing lyrical with an umbrella sticking out of his back pack.
They did 5 - that's right FIVE seasons of this garbage. No wonder the Beeb licence is going up....
