Interesting take on the franchise.
The question (from fans) of if the 2010 remake was a standalone in its own universe or if it exists in the same as the original movies has been answered.
It was nice to see how Sifu Han is connected to Sensei Miyagi and that blended the two eras well.
I echo the sentiment that this installment was kind of rushed. More character development would have been nice. They made the movie only an hour and a half. They should have made it a little longer for more development.
Our new protagonists and antagonists start out out fine in my opinion, but again, more development would have been nice.
Fight scenes; pretty well done. But in my opinion, like Cobra Kai before it, they're starting to go the cliche'd way of the "chop sockey" flicks of the past. Choreograph the fights well, but keep the story solid, then you won't have cliche's.
Not great, but still a watchable fare in the series.

Established actor Gil Gerard leads then young up-and-coming Ernie Reyes, Jr. In this very entertaining family drama.
Gerard's Detective Jake Rizzo becomes a guardian and father figure who was personally chosen by Ernie Lee's ailing grandfather to do so.
What we have is an exciting show, with Ernie teaching and fighting alongside Jake as they fight crime and other trouble. We learn other life lessons like respect as well.
This was part of ABC's Friday night line of up of decent and wholesome shows----before they dubbed it their TGIF line up years later. (By the time that moniker came along, Sidekicks was sadly gone.)
Gil Gerard delivers as usual and Ernie Reyes, Jr. Had been in both the big screen and TV highlighting his martial arts skills. What's not to like?
Unfortunately, this show was to only be one season. (I remember ABC premiered other decent shows that same night like Starman which unfortunately was also not renewed. Starman was after Sidekicks.)
Shows like this not only gave us escapism, but lessons we can learn, especially the younger audiences.
This show and the later TGIF shows sadly no longer dominate ABC Friday nights, but "too serious" programming.
Shows like Sidekicks would be nice to have again to not only entertain, but inspire.

I am a fan of movies that are well written. I don't know if this second installment of the Rambo series falls into that category, but I wasn't disappointed as I still enjoy it forty years after its release!
After the events of the first movie, we see that Rambo has been imprisoned for his one-man war against law enforcement and the National Guard. Kind of no surprise, but hey, how can a jury find him not guilty?
In this installment, we see that he has an opportunity to leave his prison sentence early and possibly for good with a mission that is determined only he can do successfully.
Besides the enemy, he fights bureaucracy that is hovering over his mission!
Action follows with a big body count!
I thought this sequel was well written. It does have some over-the-top action scenes, but at least the writer(s) kept it interesting. Action is only a tool for a great story.
Well thought out sequel that doesn't rely on action scenes to satisfy audiences!
