Pros:
1) They didn't do what product based movies do & make an entire movie out of what was very very well done in the first 15 minutes of exposition. Most studios would have insisted on making an entire movie about Steve just getting to the Overworld & discovering what most viewers already knew about the game from playing it. This one decision made the movie for me.
2) They didn't settle for substandard graphics like Disney has lately with the Marvel franchise 3) They didn't force an emotional subplot that wasn't needed & what slows down most movies nowadays 4) They didn't ham fist any "adult" type jokes. Unlike most Hollywood films they actually respected their audience in the facet; not treating adults like inebriated slobs who simply can't make it through an evening without desperately longing for a dirty joke Cons: 1) They didn't leave time or room for rewrites of the dialogue which was awful. Sorry. It was horrible. The only lines that didn't seemed forced were Momoa's & Rachel House's, but that was mostly because of their ability to deliver the lines believably.
2) Likewise, they didn't seem to have time during filming to let the actors work with their dialogue & characters. I kept getting George Lucas directing vibes. Like the director was too quick to move to the next scene.
3) They didn't hit the mark on the emotional level. Yes, I know what I said before. But there were emotional components they could have played on more with better dialogue that wouldn't have stalled the pace.
Overall, it was a good, fun, family friendly movie that makes it worth taking the entire brood to the theater & spending your tax rebate at the concessions counter.
My rating would have been an 8 but for my last item & unfortunately it really ruined scene after scene after scene.
Jack Black played a caricature of himself. He chewed up almost every scene he was in. Like, "look at me, I'm Jack Black & I'm embracing my type-casting of a lovable goof who makes funny faces & odd word choices with silly pronunciation.
Don't get me wrong, I thought Black was the perfect choice for this role. Sadly, I think Jack Black thought the same thing. Then off to the races he went without any thought to nuance. His portrayal wasn't grounded in the least. So almost every line came out beyond silly, phony, & condescending to an audience full of kids, yes; but give them more credit than that. Although, my youngest did really love the movie and the audience we watched it with applauded multiple times throughout the movie.

Went to see Fluffy earlier this year. I feared that this special was the same show I saw; and it was. Depressing.
Man, I come to a show to escape. I watch comedy specials to escape. And Fluffy used to help me escape. Not with his current material.
He starts off with stating he's not going to get political....then proceeds to hit political hot buttons THAT WE ALL WOULD LIKE TO ESCAPE FROM regardless of whatever side you find yourself: vaccines, pronouns, cancel culture, pc language, firearms
Now Fluffy might not think he's being political because he's not (in his mind) advocating for one side completely but DAMN Fluffy; you didn't think an audience of hundreds of people would politicize THOSE TOPICS by what they cheered and jeered for?
At the show I attended, with this same material; I had to endure a Midwest Johnny-Red-Wannabe whooping and cheering ever time Fluffy mentioned firearms FOR A HALF AN HOUR. It was exactly the opposite experience of what I spent my hard earned money to experience. Growing up with firearms, I may have agreed with this guy on a number of issues BUT THATS NOT WHY I WATCH COMEDY, especially Fluffy's comedy.
The rest of his special & live act is filled with self-reflection that I'm glad Fluffy has worked through BUT, Fluffy, please do it on your time not when I pay money to watch you live or on a Netflix special.
Someone compared this to a Ted talk and I couldn't agree more.
I was disappointed in his live show and this special to a degree I didn't think I would with Fluffy.

This would have had a chance of being a decent holiday watch and somewhat entertaining if the story centered around the home owner & father played by James Gandoldfini.
It just doesn't work with the wacky neurotic as the lead specifically because he's played by Ben Aflac. He is simply not relatable or sympathetic. Other comedies like What About Bob, that have a similar framework (A wacky character intrudes on a normal family & high jinks ensue), only work with the wacky neurotic being the lead when they are likeable. A tall rich self-centered man-baby with good looks & bleached white veneers isn't while a good hearted yet myopic patient struggling with OCD and social norms is.
The filmmakers might have realized this if they hadn't started with an incomplete script.
This whole film reeks of some Hollywood executive throwing a half-realized concept together for the Christmas box office while dictating the cast & micromanaging the filmmakers.
