I remember seeing this years ago when it first came out and I was floored by Parker Posey's performance. And the movie was pretty good also. For anyone who's spent a little too much time in the nightclub/after-hours scene, this movie will have a special charm for you. Not too serious, mostly funny, and Parker Posey definitely blazes her talented way through this indie gem.
I especially liked the Diaz character (reminded me of every single struggling DJ I've ever known). And many other movies could take a cue from this movie on how to preach the virtue of responsibility without being boring and bland about it.
Babaganoosh!

For those who didn't like this film or found it 'uninspired', you missed the point entirely. The film is supposed to be 'uninspired' since it is simply a 'showcase' of nearly every 'uninspired' over-used Hollywood cliche and plot-contrivance, ever used in both TV and feature films. And unlike the Leslie Neilsen Police Squad TV comedy episodes, it does it without announcing itself as a parody.
I heard it was a really bad film, but honestly, I've seen so many other so-called good films that contain much of what was offered by H.H. Another thing that was amusing was several of the cast were the same actors who appeared in another Ron Shelton movie, Dark Blue.
My guess is Ron Shelton wanted to make a great picture with 'Dark Blue' but some lame-ass hollywood pinhead executives altered that movie to make it more mainstream, bankable, etc - hence, mediocre. So in revenge, Shelton took on H.H. and set out to make a great parody of the unimaginative, recycled, contrived junk that Hollywood so loves to offer us every year. But in doing so, some pinhead hollywood suit altered this movie, just enough to make it suck as well.
