This tale has been told oft times. The actors do their best, with what's been given them script wise. The story is quite predictable and nothing exciting really happens, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The cast is a hodgepodge of mostly uptight Danes, who basically have to learn to enjoy what's being offered in their lives. The beautiful Italian countryside lends itself to the story. Too bad there wasn't more food included. The menus written out on the chalkboard told of wonderful dishes never to be seen. Although we do see them making orecchiette pasta! The film keeps ones interest, and there are worse ways to spend an hour and a half. 🙂
A mediocre plot, subpar acting, laughable dialogue do not a classic make. To put it mildly, not the best Mummy outing. The sets, and Egyptian "artifacts" are pretty cool. But all else is a big snooze. The leading lady is abysmal. The male leads irksome. Fred Clark is wasted here, mainly because he is so out of place. If you are expecting any historical accuracy here, don't bother. I had not seen this one in many, many years and was eager to see it. Truth be told it has not stood up well, I remember it being so much better. It's one hour and twenty minutes long, and feels so much longer. Bypass this one unless you're a glutton for punishment.
