What a bizarre movie.
The props/sets are quite nice and they have a lot of visual interest going on!
Yet the acting is held back by an absolute bonkers plot and screenwriting.
I'd guestimate that about 15 minutes of this movie are really quite good. There is an underlying idea for the plot that is decent.
Yet instead of scifi, we are given painfully long scenes featuring husbands and wifes kissing and flirting unprofessionally on the job. Or just having party. Why do we have to see a long drawn-out intro sequence that tries extremely hard to get across what great husbands and wifes everyone is??? I mean I get it, they're straight, they have wifes, they have marriage rings, there is no need to drag this out forever and then repeat this very same fact again and again.
Was the writer lonely? Thirsty for females It's extremely grating and makes me dislike the 1-dimensional personalities of the characters even more.
What science there is in this movie is painfully wronged by the script-writers' lack of understanding. Physics, evolution, biology, tech, it's all abused and distorted in ways that aren't remotely interesting. Yes, this movie is from 2000, but by then we've had a lot of truly groundbreaking, amazing movies so that is not a valid excuse.
Maybe this movie was meant for an audience of old married couples...

This movie is meant for kids, though I got curious when seeing some of the cooler looking robots in a few gifs here and there.
I understand that this is meant to portray robots in a retro kinda way, the way that was thought of as up to date in the middle of last century. Not saying it is inherently bad because of that, just it's not gritty or dark or interesting enough to have any noteworthy meat to chew on for scifi fans that like such things.
Just seems to be a rehash of ideas from older movies and it lacks something that is fundamentally game-changing or worthy of being praised as the masterpiece that other reviewers think to see in here.
Skip it if you are looking for nice scifi. Do put it on screen if you got kids to entertain for two hours.

A lot of unfittingly voiced extremely emotional human-centric stories and the viewer can pretty much say goodbye to the hopes of any Yautja getting a fair chance at doing anything.
Because they never do. It's all about having the protagonists win because hey, they're human.
Should have been called: Boring Humans: Armored by Plot
Animation is done on really jittery 2s which is massively jarring in a 3D rendered context. Texture quality of the assets is at best average and does not impress.
I feel this here is best suited for viewers who really don't like monsters/aliens and just want to watch dramatic inconsequential stuff happening.
You can safely skip it if you're hoping for badass Yautja things.
