After seeing a good rating on imdb and plenty of positive reviews, I got a hold of a copy and also of the follow up 'Cat o-nine tails'. I shan't be watching the latter.

Really really bad acting from the leads. Void of emotion.

Add in a plot which had completely unrealistic behaviours - or maybe that was to some degree the incredibly poor acting.

Then put in utterly unconvincing plot elements: police just turn up for no reason, police encouraging the amateur's investigation, and the phone call's background element being discovered.

This gets 3 stars only because a lot of shots in this film were superb - badly edited with badly mixed music - but superb.

Quirky characters with gun fights and lots of chases. Nice humour never taking itself to seriously or bogging down in schmaltzy sentimentality. Some effects were iffy but this was very entertaining.

I had a great time watching.

I've not played any of the videogames so had no expectations of R-rated violence, character behaviour, or storylines. Im sure I missed out on references but maybe got to enjoy exploding toys, and reloading guns by spinning for the first time just like the game players.

Some corny lines and deus ex machina moments but, hey, i did only give it a 6. This is not a movie for 3 or less.
