On the surface it's a Christmas calamity come redemption flick. Beneath the surface we can find characters we know do well in life - and if we're honest, see ourselves. Hugo Weaving is amazing as usual, Jona Wren Phillips outstanding as the son and there are brilliant passages of irony, insight, satire & humour throughout.

The reviewers who most resemble Roger appear to have missed the deeper aspects of this story altogether.

The movie is based upon the Paul Kelly song of the same name a man calls his brother from jail, just before Christmas. He passes on his gravy recipe, together with an extra serving of regret. It's the kind of taut, empathetic storytelling for which Kelly has been acclaimed throughout a career spanning 30 years and two-dozen albums and soundtracks.

Looking for answers in all the wrong places. 3rd rate new age gurus making all sorts of assertions about subjects they have no clue on. The writer clearly has little concept about the subject & is seeking to allay his own life issues but is making the same mistake that many of us do in our teens but in his 60's.

Avoid at all costs - do not waste your time or money. Why does a nun, a psychic, a faith healer a medium and a person who hears voices participate in this farce of a show? Money can be the only reason.

The lack of anyone with any credibility can be attributed to the lunatics engaged to give outrageous opinions!

Long story short, it's the pistons.on the 2000's. Dirty team and a band of rotten fans. Sure the players behaved poorly - but the Piston's were renowned as the dirtiest team in the NBA & a group of their fans were just, well, sub human - this is what happens when a crowd like that is let near the teams.
