Having this week sat through the turgidly bad Kraven the Hunter my faith in awesome filmmaking has been fully restored by Yihui Shao's outstanding writing and directing.
Of course her creation could well have been spoiled if the actors had been failing in their performances but thankfully ALL the actors are magnificent and do Shao's script proud.
It's one of those rare movies were its impossible to select an outstanding performance and I cannot separate the three female leads, I suppose I have to heap praise on Ms. Isabella Zeng merely because the performance from one so young is astonishing.
I'm from the UK but live in Asia so I see lots of movies from India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea and China and I have to say the majority of the films I watch (at least 6 a month) are better than so called Hollywood productions in many aspects.
I'm only sorry the majority of cinema goers in the West will not get to view this touching, heart warming, thoughtful, provocative, brilliant movie.

I'm kind of going to see Marvel films now out of habit but really this disaster of scriptwriting and ham fisted directing makes me question going to see any future Marvel films at all.
It's laborious to list this films failings but a couple of notable low lights are Fred Hechinger's "performance" as Dimitri, his overacting in Gladiator 2 was just the right side of plausible but here, wow, his acting is comically bad to the point of how did the Director not say, "are you seriously thinking that performance is acceptable outside of an infants school play".
The point made in the film about Dimitri's ability to mimic people is overdubbed so badly that it's cringeworthy.
Ariana DeBose makes wood look animated.
A couple of main characters are unexplained but given the poor development of those who are, it's a mercy spared the audience.
The worst movie I've seen this year, and I saw Madame Web.

It amazes me that some movies get past script approval, Cellphone sadly is another such example.
It's not as if this story hasn't been told many times before, it has, and in many better ways but this boring, repetitive and unfortunately poorly acted waste of time needs avoiding at all costs.
I can't be bothered with explaining the story because it's so puerile it's not worth the effort.
My only hope is that my review might stop one unfortunately cinema goer or indeed anyone from wasting their time and money on this insult to cinema, don't even be tempted, I have wasted my time and money for you and you're most welcome, just trust me.
Remember when you were choosing which movie to go and watch and it was between Cellphone and "A N other" movie - choose the other one, wish I had.
