I played this show on a whim. I'm glad I did.
The animation and storytelling match well with one another. It takes abstract sci-fi fantasy humor to broach serious topics like emotional intelligence, personal relationships, sexuality, etc. Plus, there's a lot of heart throughout the whole show.
The pacing is great. Never a dull moment. It's graphic in gore content (hard to have a show about a hospital & not be honest in that respect).
The cast is awesome! There's a LOT of SNL alumni, plus Keke Palmer, Keiran Culkin, Sam Smith, & Natasha Lyonne, which brings a wide variety of personalities that makes everything fit in this crazily relatable eye candy universe.

Jody Hill knows how to take an abstract concept and run with it. It's like watching a fever dream and you keep asking, "Is it gonna get back to normal now? How about now?" But a part of you secretly doesn't want this to ride to end.
It goes down dark avenues you catch yourself laughing out loud, not only as a coping mechanism, but again, out of sheer, morbid curiosity.
The whole cast is great, with half of everyone being hyperboles of archetypes, and the other half being average normal people who somehow coexist in this world.
And the soundtrack will have you wanting more of its awesome selection.
In short - if you like Eastbound & Down, you'll like this for its own thing, as well.

I'm a big fan of Dan Cummins and his podcast Timesuck, where he goes deep down the rabbit hole on some of the craziest topics, with his comedic take and insight. One of his episodes covered Griselda Blanco, the Cocaine Godmother. So when I found out this miniseries based on her life was coming fruition AND stars Sofía Vergara - you bet I want to see things in a cinematic light!
You feel for the characters. You root for their success, but not their decisions in getting there. Definitely worthwhile and not for the faint of heart. This does not pull punches. There's some gore aspect that caught me off guard, but it comes with the subject matter.
If you like Breaking Bad, Ozarks, Narcos, etc., you'll definitely appreciate this awesome production.
