Enchanted is one of the most charming movies I've seen in a long time. I wasn't sure what to expect from this movie going in. I was quickly delighted by its fantastic "fish out of water" sense humor. Not to mention the story is a fresh twist on a story we've seen 1,000 times (and I'm still saying that almost 20 years after it came out)
Disney made this movie and it almost shocks me. This film feels like a border line farce of the Disney princess genre at times. So many tropes exploited for laughs and all executed with impeccable timing. Amy Adam's as Giselle is perfect and I can't believe it took me this long to see this film.

If you enjoy horror I'm sure you don't need me to convince you to go see this film. Every single one of your horror loving friends has probably chewed your ear off about it. Me, personally I'm just here to nibble on your lobes and nudge you over the edge.
The only other Robert Eggers film I've seen is the witch. The lighthouse and Northman are on my list and after watching this film I'm gonna have to bump them up in the priority ranking.
Nosferatu has so many layers and details that I'm still processing what I saw days on from seeing it.
Immediately you're thrust into a dark and twisted world. A young girl, desperate to be normal, makes a deal with the sinister apparition known as Nosferatu. Only a few short years later all hell breaks lose and EVERYONE pays the price for that girls actions.
In a world where mediocre films rise to the top (because 90% of what comes out of Hollywood now is hot garbage) it's easy to have low expectations going in and be pleasantly surprised when they're subverted. I heard nothing but great things about this film going in and I still wasn't prepared to have my expectations blown out of the water, sky high and into the stratosphere like I was with this movie. The casting is perfect, there's not a single actor or extra in this film that wasn't giving it 1000%. The dialogue felt of the time without being overly pretentious (which was one of my main gripes with the witch). The story is both a slow burn with just enough action, excitement and suspense to keep you enthralled. Not to mention the cinematography is excellently executed and the effects are top notch.
If you're like me and only shell out the cash to go see a movie in the theaters once or twice per year, go see this movie twice and you'll still feel like you underpaid.

Escape from New York is the peak of 80's action. I have yet to find a ln action flick that feels more like an action flick than this movie. Snake Pliskin will go down in history as one of the greatest action hero's of all time. A true badass in every sense of the word. Even if the best directors now tried to recapture the magic of this film, they just couldn't do it without Kurt Russel as the lead.
After a dangerous but seemingly simple rescue mission goes awry, Snake is left to battle his way out of the literal human dumping ground that was once New York City. After a rise in crime in the near future New York has been turned into a prison to hold americas worst criminals. Whose snake supposed to rescue you might ask? None other than the MFing president of the GD United States of America! As Snake makes his way through the dilapidated streets of NYC he makes some new allies and enemies along the way. I'd say more about it but I'm afraid I've given away too much already.
John Carpenter is one of the greatest directors of all time and he's in peak form in this movie. I have yet to find a movie (even another John carpenter movie) that feels the way this film does. The music, the atmosphere, the characters all feel so natural while still being completely over the top.
If you like action movies and you haven't seen this absolute classic, stop what you're doing right this very second and go watch it.
