  • Could have been much better!!

Great Cast and wow those two women there was beautiful but not enough to save the movie. Actors did a very good job. It startet promising but halfway out it didn't follow up. So it was a ok/good movie. 5 out of 10 from me.

A young woman named Arletty drives to the beach town of Point Dume to visit her estranged father, an artist. She finds his beachfront house abandoned. He left a diary in which he addresses her specifically, complaining about darkness consuming the town and horrible nightmares he is having and imploring Arletty to never look for him. His letter tells her to talk to the owner of the art gallery, who sells his paintings. The gallery owner says he has none of her father's paintings and does not sell them, that no one ever comes in looking to buy his works, and that he doesn't know where he went. He says Point Dume isn't "an artist colony," but he only vaguely remembers her father (his paintings are eerie pop art portraits of groups of people in black, white, and gray, standing; the men are always dressed in black suits, white shirts, and black ties, as if at a funeral). It's never clear if these are townspeople, or figures from his visions, or both.

Arletty meets a visiting aristocrat Thom and his two extremely provocative, groupie-like female companions, Toni and Laura. Back at his motel, Thom interviews Charlie, a local eccentric. Charlie speaks at length about "the blood moon" and "the dark stranger" and how he has lived through both. He says very soon it will be the 100-year anniversary of the first appearance of the "dark stranger." When he returns, the Moon will turn red and the town will be overrun by evil. Charlie warns Arletty about her father, whom he says is "one of them" now. Moments later he is murdered.

Thom, Toni, and Laura are kicked out of their hotel after interviewing Charlie, and they stay at Arletty's father's house. Arletty reads through her father's bizarre journal entries, in which he reveals his body temperature is 85 degrees and mentions fighting his "condition." Meanwhile, each night, pale people gather on the beach in front of bonfires, ritually staring up at the Moon. The locals call it "The Waiting." Late one evening, Laura goes into a local supermarket and is devoured by a crowd of people who are feasting on raw meat; the following day, Toni goes to see a movie and is devoured by the other theater patrons, who begin bleeding from one eye. That evening, the "blood moon" rises, the town's residents transform, and the titular "Messiah of Evil" returns. Through a voice-over of Charlie's taped interviews, we learn that this "Messiah" was a former minister and a Donner Party survivor from the late 19th century. A vampire/cannibal, he came to spread a new "religion." He walked into the ocean, promising to return in a century and lead his people up the coast and inland. While Thom hides, two policemen in riot gear drive up and fire their guns into a swarm of townsfolk; however, one of the cops suddenly begins to bleed from his eye, causing his now-former partner to shoot him and flee. Undaunted, the undead cop shoots his former partner, and he and the other townsfolk feast on his flesh.

While Thom is gone, Arletty is visited by her father, who begs her to leave and tell the world about Point Dune. He then attacks her, reluctantly giving in to his cannibalistic urges, whereupon she stabs him with garden shears and burns him alive. Thom returns to the house, where he finds Arletty half-crazed; she is cold, cannot feel pain, and thinks she may be dead or undead. She even finds a spider in her mouth and immediately vomits up various beetles, mealworms and an anole. Startled by Thom, Arletty stabs him in the arm with the shears. The two of them flee to the beach, but the townsfolk follow them. They swim out into the waves, hoping to reach a small boat, but Thom seemingly drowns. Arletty survives and is captured by the townspeople. Instead of killing her, she is freed under the condition that she spread word of the religious movement throughout California and the world. This causes her to be locked up in an insane asylum. Each day, all day, she sits in the sun painting, dreading the day the Messiah and his followers come to take her away.

Holy crap how many bad movies is made really??? I have seen a lot and this one was really bad!! Of course I have seen movies that are even much worse. First of all how can the murdered goes killing a lot of people and still be with the people almost the whole time and at the same time not one drop of blood on her whole body!!! That was a big hole in the movie I must say. And the first 30 minutes was really boring!! I like building up a movie but it must be in a good way.

  • This movie was long even I fast forwarded!!!

Holy smoke what a crap movie! I not sure why but I felt it was a Harry Potter movie with som Zombies in between. And these tiny girls maybe 50kg fighting zombies.

LOL. Boring! Boring! Boring ! Etc etc

    Really no plot though!!!

Early 19th century England is besieged by zombies; the Bennet sisters-Elizabeth, Jane, Kitty, Lydia, and Mary-have all been trained in the art of weaponry and martial arts in Qing Dynasty-era China at their father's behest so they can defend themselves. Mrs. Bennet only wants to see her daughters married off to wealthy suitors. The Bennets attend a country dance also attended by newcomers Colonel Darcy, his good friend the amiable Charles Bingley and Bingley's snobbish sister Caroline. There, the young and handsome Bingley falls for lovely, sweet natured Jane. Charles Bingley has inherited £100,000 (£8.2 million today) - attracting Mrs. Bennet's attention as a desirable suitor for her daughter. When zombies attack the ball, the Bennet sisters fight them off, and Colonel Darcy, a skilled zombie killer who was trained in Japanese martial arts - with property that pays him £10,000 annually (£820,000 today) - becomes attracted to Elizabeth after seeing her fighting skills, although his behavior is outwardly aloof. During the ball, Darcy is disgusted to overhear Mrs. Bennet's mercenary delight that Jane has attracted a rich man. On the way to the Bingleys' some days later, Jane is attacked by a zombie and catches a fever. Darcy orders her confined in fear that she may have been bitten, but her illness is not zombie-related, and she recovers.

The Bennets are visited by a cousin, the overbearing Parson Collins, who, as the only surviving male heir in the family, will inherit the Bennet home upon Mr. Bennet's death. Collins proposes to Elizabeth but states that she must give up her life as a warrior, something she refuses to do. Elizabeth meets a charming soldier named George Wickham and arranges to meet him at another ball. She travels with him to a church that is filled with zombies who feed on pig brains instead of human brains, keeping their behaviour relatively normal. Wickham believes that humans can coexist with these new "civilized" zombies. He informs Elizabeth that Darcy convinced the Bingleys to leave the county to keep Bingley away from Jane and then asks her to elope with him, but she refuses. When Darcy proposes to Elizabeth, having fallen in love with her despite his apparent coldness, she expresses outrage at his actions concerning Jane and fights him.

Darcy later writes Elizabeth a letter to apologize. He regrets that he separated Jane and Bingley, fearing that Jane only wanted to marry Bingley for his wealth. He also exposes Wickham's true nature. He and Wickham were childhood friends, but Wickham may have murdered Darcy's father, squandered his inheritance, and tried to elicit additional money from Darcy's estate. When that fails, Wickham tries to elope with Darcy's young sister, Georgiana, for her fortune. Elizabeth learns that Wickham has run off with Lydia and London has been overrun with zombies. Darcy saves Lydia and learns that Wickham is using the "civilized" zombies to create a zombie army, which has overrun London based on Wickham's plan to rule the country. He stops him by giving the zombies human brains, which turns them savage.

While fighting, Darcy stabs Wickham's chest, revealing him to have been undead all along, like the other supposedly tame zombies. Elizabeth saves Darcy from being killed by Wickham, who escapes (though Elizabeth has chopped off his right arm). As the two ride across a bridge, the human army destroys it to keep the zombies from crossing over from London. Darcy is injured in the explosion, and Elizabeth tearfully admits her love for him. After Darcy recovers, he proposes to Elizabeth again, and this time, she accepts. The two have a joint wedding with Bingley and Jane. In a mid-credits scene, Wickham arrives with his zombie army, along with the four horsemen, to crash the wedding, leaving everyone's fate unknown.
