It's an Amy Schumer movie so you know right out of the gate what to expect: her bumbling her way through life and bringing the funny along the way. Honestly I don't understand the all the negative reviews. I guess everyone with an opinion and a keyboard fancy themselves the second coming of Siskel & Ebert. The comdey genre has pretty much dried up these days with the American film industry too busy churning out double digit sequels and prequels or trying to slip in messages focusing on what I call the "isms" (feminism, racism, etc.) Sometimes you just want to watch a movie that doesn't involve having to check Wikipedia to get some clarification on what you just viewed. Kinda Pregnant did what so few comedies do these day: made me laugh out loud and forget zbout life struggles for a while.
The so called experts present little insight into the subject matter and fail to offer any real science-based evidence that would identify the featured defendants as psychopathic. At the most their crimes and actions show some sociopathic tendencies or personality disorders but nothing rising to the level of the misleading title.
No, it will not win any awards but it was nice to see a movie that wasn't the remake of a remake or the 15th installment of a franchise. The premise was original, the actors did their jobs and the special effects sufficed. I was entertained and the movie held my interest. Maybe that's not enough for the self-styled Roger Eberts here but it gave me what I seldom get from the rehashed, formulated offerings that Tinsel Town tosses to the masses these days. Hey, it's better than basic cable.
