I'm going to talk about S2. S1 made me really uncomfortable for some of the participants. It is worth watching, and 100% better than 90% of what's on. But this is about S2.
I'm going to confess, that whatever I'm watching, I find fairly boring. I'm usually watching and checking my emails, writing emails, eating dinner, preparing dinner, thinking about dinner, wondering about what's happening in the news, wondering about tomorrow's weather, wondering what I should be watching instead, or any of a hundred other things. Talking on the phone, taking a nap, playing solitaire on my kindle, quite literally anything but watching.
Well, THE REHEARSAL S2, is not like that.
I watched with absolutely nothing allowed to distract me. I once went to see Boris Spassky speak. He was the world's champion of chess. Until he lost to Bobby Fischer. The talk was decades after the match. And he said early on, he made a move, and it was Fischer's turn. After studying the board, he (Spassky), looked up and really looked at Fischer. He said that Fischer was staring at the board, and the pieces, and the possibilities, so intently, that if there was an explosion in the room, Fischer wouldn't have blinked. His concentration was so taken over, by the chess, it was totally consumed by his attention and absolutely nothing was going to distract him. And that's when he knew he was going to lose the title.
Anyway, watching S2 is like that. There's no way you can be distracted.
Thank you Nathan Fielder.
Thank you for making a show, unlike anything before. It's original, it's funny, it's heartfelt, and great to watch.
I hope you get the credit you deserve.

There is something other-worldly about Nathan Fielder. He's able to create a series that is absolutely nothing like anything ever done before.
I was a serious fan of NATHAN FOR YOU, and hope everyone gets to watch it all, now that Max is streaming the episodes. It was obviously done on a shoe string budget, but every episode was worth watching.
This season of THE REHEARSAL, is a major accomplishment. If this doesn't win every possible award, the world has lost all meaning.
Thank you, Nathan. You are an explorer doing the impossible.
And thank you, HBO, for letting Nathan do the impossible, by paying for the program.
I can't imagine how you can follow this, but somehow, I totally believe you will.
Nathan, you are Jimi Hendrix, in another medium.
