I picked up this movie based on its strong actors: Tina Fey, Jon Lamm, Nick Mohammad. But the writing is so bad... it tries at the same time to be a comedy, an action movie and have a romantic sub-plot - and it fails in all three categories.
As a comedy, there are jokes in the script and the movie features strong comedic actors... But as one characters tells the other (maybe someone should have told it to the screenwriter): you have to know when to make a joke.
As an action movie, it technically has an action story, but that story is sooo painfully linear and devoid of twists that it's downright boring. The detectives guess everything right at every step. Hurray for justice, boring as an action movie.
Finally, the side romantic plot putters along the action in an unconvincing and somewhat distracting fashion. It tries to be comic at times and philosophical at others and overall fails flat on its face.
