This is a touching and frank portrayal of a day in the life of two Dublin junkies called Adam and Paul and their modern day "odessy" around Dublin, a Dublin not often seen on screen.
Adam and Paul have reached rock bottom and spend their entire day walking around Dublin trying to beg, borrow or steal enough money to secure their next fix. There are some bittersweet moments of comedy that come from tragedy in it's rawest form with both of the lead actors turning in excellent performances as the down and out Adam and Paul.
The fact that the film makers manage to get the audience on the side of Adam and Paul is a testament to how well written and acted a piece this is. It's hard not to empathise with them as they struggle to find their next fix.
This is a story that will stay with you.

I went to this movie having heard nothing about it and left extremely disappointed.
Samuel L. Jackson is a police detective working in a poor black area who is constantly trying to keep the peace and keep the white police for the neighbouring white community out.
Julianne Moore plays a mother who shows up to a hospital reports a car jacking and waits some time to mention that her son was in the car. From here it all goes south. Racial tensions break out as the white police enter the black area searching for the boy and looking for excuses to cause trouble.
Edie Falco is the only character in this movie who is believable. She plays a mother who runs a support group that looks for missing children.
Throw it all into a pot, stir it around and you have 2 hours of a mess. The film is really bad, the acting is really bad and the story is just not believable. Why they threw in the racial riots, I don't know because there is no resolution or even reason for this.
If you want a movie about racial prejudice, watch Crash. If you want a movie about kidnapping, watch Trapped. If you want to waste 2 hours of you life that you will never get back, then watch this.

I'm not sure about this one. I saw it at the weekend after reading the reviews and the movie was not what I expected.
It could have been better but it could have been worse. Stockard Channing is fantastic in this film and probably the only reason to watch it.
This film looks like it belongs on stage and not on the big screen. There were so many issues that the film brings up but it never really explores these issues fully. It's a pity because the performances from the two leads are so strong that I want to like the film. And yet, I can't say that I would recommend this movie.
If you want to see it, wait till it's out on video.
