Yeah so i watched it from a recommendation. It was nice a bit preachy but not a solid plot very basic.

I couldn't grasp the seriousness of the story because of the comedy bits. Acting was good chemistry was average. I could relate to the male lead since I've never been in a relationship and have been afraid to propose. Then he married a girl with baggage which I don't want. I firmly believe he should've divorced her and married the friend.

It's very average for family entertainment nothing serious and quite lighthearted. I mean only a one time watch or maybe another if you're bored. Nothing really special..

So i watched it despite the bad reviews and all. I went in without knowing much about the plot but yeah it's quite good at the start. The craziest thing is we saw a serial killer being a regular human being infact better human than average. Which is what makes them trustworthy and we can understand how easily we can be manipulated. Otherwise I totally understand the bad reviews that it was nepotism to promote her daughter's music. She's not that good i think i liked 2 songs but she's got no range. I thought it was Olivia Rodrigo first lol. The rap portions seemed like two african people sang them.

Anyway for me the main character shines the most he played it very well. I felt like watching Liam neeson but as a villain trying to find a way out. They also resemble a bit. But yeah the third act being dragged and him not breaking the door of the bathroom or getting through the window outside was a major plothole. Most amateur directors do this mistake they start off good but ends weird or something underwhelming. Didn't expect it from a capable director though. Anyway he lost his touch i guess.

I went in blind without much plot reading or trailers. All i knew was Channing Tatum was a villain here and i was sold. His performance was definitely so much better than his dancer and action star or the dumb hot guy.. he had a lot of depth in his performance but some of that was overdone and in the climactic scene he didn't had much monologue.

Positive sides, 1. The performance from the underrated cast members was really phenomenal. I've never seen forgotten actors like slater and the kid from sixth sense in a movie for a while now. And the guy from scary movie also had a good opportunity being in a serious role. But let's face it it's the strong women who shines.

2. The cinematography was also fantastic being a well known celebrity figure and Hollywood baby she's got good contacts. And it showed the editing was pretty good too other than a few scenes. Color grading was perfect.

3. The sound design also had a good feel to it and the pacing with the background was also done well.

4. Very unique yet familiar story where rich people do whatever they want to in their private island. But the forgetting thing was quite interesting. But massive missed opportunity on how they did it and who were their other victims is still a mystery.

Negatives, The more I watched the more i felt like damn i wish Ari aster or M night shamaylan or Jordan Peele directed this they would've done amazing. The story is something they could do hella crazy things with. But it's a story about female abuse and violence so a woman directing it makes sense. She definitely has proven herself with this directorial debut. Otherwise i think the first half was definitely a well paced because i liked sinking to the world of this island. I didn't watch it to dissect and analyze each frame I simply enjoyed the progression of the story. And things definitely unfolded well. The tension building was also well done. Overall I felt what she was trying to do. People can complain or whatever but for a first time director you'll miss a couple of stuff but fix those mistakes later on. I truly hope to see more from her she's quite capable.
