The title alone suggests a horror film, but the film is a coming-of-age film. In a way, the film resonates with my personal life, as I grew up with a mother, but I haven't seen my father since primary schools. Unlike the film, Hubert and his mother would fight regularly and say very hurtful things. My mother and I fought in a cold war, and after a while someone would always come out and apologize first. But no matter how we fought, we would eventually forgive, compromise and reconcile out of love. And it's because of our unconditional love for each other that we give each other all the bad tempers because we know that no matter how much we fight, we will never be separated and will eventually come back to each other. In daily life, especially adolescent children and parents quarrel too normal, but quarrel in the process must have a voice in the heart, do not make each other more sad.
This is Dolan's directorial debut, and he is said to have written the script at the age of 16, which is impressive! The whole film, whether it's the soundtrack or many of the artistic expressions, feels beyond directors of his age. In fact, after watching it, there will be many places that I didn't understand, but then I feel through. A highly recommended film, and I hope we all treat our moms well.
Finally, I'd like to end this with a line that runs through the whole film: 'What would you do if I died tonight?' 'Then I'll die tomorrow.'

As someone who didn't see this film until today, I hesitated for a long time before deciding to write this review. In fact, I've heard about The Godfather for a long time, it's said to be a film that 'a man must see once in his life', and people around me have mentioned it to me in one way or another. There are two reasons why I haven't watched it. The first is that the film was shot too long ago, and I felt that some of the ideas and filming techniques didn't resonate with me. The second reason is that it is a 3-hour drama that I don't have the courage to sit in front of my computer screen and finish it in one sitting. But today I did, haha. In fact, to be honest, maybe my expectations were too high, after seeing the shock to me is not so big, maybe this is a film that needs to be repeated to savour it. So today I'm going to talk to you about some of the little details of the film that I like.
The first scene in the film is so poignant that the lines between the funeral parlour owner and the godfather let the audience know that this is a gangster-themed film. The Godfather is also portrayed very impressively in this scene, most notably in the way he speaks, with his raspy voice and bulging cheeks, which the actor is said to have actually stuffed in his mouth at the time. In the dialogue between the two men, we learn that the funeral parlour boss didn't get what he called justice, so he came to the Godfather for help. His anxiety can be representative of the anxiety of the general public, especially the lower and middle social constituent groups. They want fair, direct, and effective punishment, so they turn to social groups with a gangster twist, which is often more effective in particular times. The Godfather agrees to help him with his problem, and the boss kisses the back of the Godfather's hand, a classic gesture that echoes the end of the film. I must mention the cat in the Godfather's hand, which perfectly portrays the Godfather's gentle and kind image. The second scene of the film comes to the wedding, and the cheerful and crowded scene is a strong contrast to the first scene. The characters of the film also appear one by one, and the film is officially opened.
In the wedding sequence, there are three dramatic events that the Godfather has to deal with: dealing with the unfair treatment of the undertaker, helping the woman to emigrate, and helping a celebrity to get a role in the film. The film shows one of the most difficult things to do - take care of the Hollywood mogul. This segment gives Tom's character a rather colourful logo.
Next comes the reversal of the story, when the Godfather is assassinated, but the situation is not fatal. Mike is calm and collected in the face of danger, while on the contrary, the other two brothers are at a loss for words. Next, Mike protects his father in the hospital again, and it is the rival assassination plan that fails again. This episode once again shows Mike's carefulness, alertness, resourcefulness and daring beyond the ordinary. The next assassination is in an Italian restaurant, a few bullets decided Mike's fate.
Mike returned to the U. S., replacing his father as the new generation of Godfather, the Godfather and Mike in the garden scene is also very exciting. It's not long, but it's very informative, but it actually explains one thing: whoever steps in and arranges a negotiation with the enemy is a traitor. But the scene is very informative: 1. The Godfather's poor state of health, suggesting that he will soon pass away. 2. the final succession of the old and new Godfathers. 3. the old Godfather's deep regret that Mike has taken over the family's business, and he hopes that his son will be the one who will control others, rather than being played by them. 4. the ambiguity for the Godfather's death in the next scene, when he is enjoying the heavenly pleasures of the world with his grandson. 5. how to deal with enemies, and to identify traitors . In fact, this scene is the Godfather's last words. At the end of this scene, which is also the climax of the film, Mike completes the baptism of the Godfather in the religious sense, and also completes the baptism as a mob godfather. And truly becomes a godfather like his father.
The film portrays the deceitfulness, intrigue and sinfulness of the noir characters very well, and at the same time shows the emotions and character of the mission in a delicate and precious way. It combines the beauty and darkness of human nature into one, making the fate of the characters more tragic. The Godfather is a landmark in both content and form, and no movies from that time can compete with it.
