I haven't been a fan of everything that Mark Gatiss has been in like "Moonflower Murders" or the "Sherlock Holmes" series, but I did enjoy "Bookish". I've always been a fan of Polly Walker from "Enchanted April" to "Bridgerton", she's great in any role. And Connor Finch is a nice addition.
It doesn't feel quite like the 1940s, like "Grantchester" does set in the 1950s along with "Call the Midwife" do. But the episodes are unique, not recycled plots that have been done before.
It's already renewed for a 2nd season, hope there will be 8 episodes instead of 6. It's a different take on the amateur detective genre and worth a second season.

Another Hannah Swensen Mystery ruined by Barbara Niven's character. These are supposed to be Hallmark style murder mysteries, but it doesn't really know what it is. It's Hannah and her family, Hannah and her staff, Hannah and the Sheriff's Dept., Hannah and the DA... The cast has gotten too large and the comedic elements aren't really funny.
It was better when it was Hannah and a detective that focused on a case, now there are subplots running. The bread and butter of writers are relationship stories, but this is a crime drama and they need writers who know how to write that genre. Who green lights these multi-movie series, they don't work. I think that Hallmark has run out of steam, I expect to hear one day soon they've been bought out or sold off.

"Villa Amore" isn't an original plot, it's been done before, probably the most well known is 2003's movie "Under the Tuscan Sun". With slight variations, "La Dolce Villa" from Netflix is similar and another variation is the British film "Made in Italy" starring Liam Neeson and his son Michael. The British TV series "Signora Volpe" has another variation.
Kevin McGarry always gives a solid performance in Hallmark productions and he does the same here. Elise Mumford and the rest of the cast are good. The script is ok and there is chemistry between the leads. And Italy is always beautiful, not sure if all of it was filmed in Italy.
