James has a much different expectation from his date with Kristen, and has an engagement ring to give her. He even has his friend Mike dress up the house he intends to go to with rose petals spread throughout the house. However, Kristen simply isn't ready, so the celebration at the house isn't happening. James decides to take a drive, and while at the house, Kristen experiences lots of things that go bump in the night. And when she realizes there is someone inside the house, she is stricken with terror. And nice subtlety showing how she realized she was not alone in the house. She manages to call James, and he returns, expecting to play the role of White Knight rescuing his damsel in distress. He was certain there was no one in the house until he realizes he was wrong. And the strangers are ruthless, and there seems absolutely no reason for what they are doing. The movie portrays the sense of helplessness against the strangers, and the horror they experience. The second half may seem a bit slow, but it builds the terror. A satisfying movie, although it is inspired by actual events, not meaning it actually happened, as this is a guess of how it could have happened.

Travis (Pete Davidson) is working as a guard for an armored transport company, and while at a bank, a women, Zoe, wants to show him a note. He thinks that is a hold up note, so he pulls his gun. She only wanted to date him and he hooks up with her. Russell (Eddie Murphy) wants that days run to be easy, to get to his 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner that night. And Russell is planing to leave his job, and they will start a B&B. But his boss has other ideas, and puts him on a terrible run, and worse, pairs him with Travis. Travis comes from a family of cops, but couldn't make the cut, so he is a guard. He is rather a goofball. Just when one gets tired of his stupid decisions, he makes a good one. While on their run, they get hijacked, and they figure they are going to be robbed, and then killed. Turns out the only thing Travis is good at is driving, so there are some interesting chase scenes, and those wanting the truck are very determined, and it was well planned out. A problem with this movie is that it is very uneven. Fun and interesting intermixed with dumb and stupid. Russell seems to be along for the ride. Travis seems either to act totally dense or simply out of his league. We do meet up with Zoe again, and that adds an interesting twist. A very lightweight movie that has its charms. One will not feel they wasted time watching it, nor would they want to watch it again to see if there are important things they missed.

An earthquake strikes, and the home has only young women in it. With no water, no electricity, and no cell phone service, they are, of course doomed. Some may liken it to a female version of Lord of the Flies, except the boys were really trapped, and that is a far better movie. Olivia seems to be one who had her head about her, and Dolly holds on tightly to a doll, as it seems it is her only friend. There is dirt piled near the top of the windows, but since the house didn't suffer a lot of damage and the windows didn't break, it couldn't have been a massive amount of dirt, so they could have simply opened a window and crawled out. That would have made for a 5 minute movie, and be better. Instead, it degenerates into most of them living in filth, showing despair and basically going crazy. All in the space of a couple of days, at the most. No one seems to be able to come up with a plan. On top of that, the sound track becomes super annoying. It starts out like geese honking, then horns honking, and then (according to subtitles) women vocalizing. A truly terrible movie, and while 3 may seem generous, one may not want to know which movies I have rated lower than that.
