OK so I'm not a complete a**hole... I really like this show, the conversation it's starts and the light it shines on people...but this particular episode I found extra entertaining due to the great family, the tremendous yet well preserved and cared for hoard, and the new jersey queen herself, Delores...immediately I was distracted by D but couldn't put my finger on it, half way through when D hit her breaking point cue and started saying dry, one lined, mutterings about the importance of her hoard it hit me that she could be Sean Penns twin, no offense, it was all I could see and the rest of the episode was gold...I even imagined an 80s montage when she kicked into high gear at the end and broke the record for speed donating 10000 garments...it's currently streaming on Netflix, and there's a few more gems on this season too, you're welcom.
If you're gonna venture into hard sci-fi like time travel and experimental drugs then you have to define a set of rules and stick to them...even if they aren't spelled out on screen, the writer needs to at least have a firm grasp of how everything all works...this movie constantly sets a rule of time travel, even states it out right and then a minute later shows that rule not being adhered to, it ruins that whole point and draw of this movie, the inconsistencies muddle any focus you may have built up each time you think you understand the mechanics, that by the end it feels that all the learning about time travel we did most of the movie didn't really mean anything and the writers just wanted to make some cool scenes and then say oh yeah let's write an ending too, one minute.....even the real world human drama storyline are lost in the mix....3 stars for the cinematography, the actors, and the balls to make a whole movie with only a couple of ideas for a not quite there story.
Take this movie for what it is...it's Christmas romcom a la early 2000s meant to spark that twinge of nostalgia for millennials, add in the queen of the young millennial spirit herself and the kid from glee and you've got a recipe tailored to 30 somethings, entirely alone and nothing else to do. Yes of course, gays of all ages will tune in but only the 80s born will not question the wholly ridiculous premise and goings on of this film...I think everyone involved fully knows this is just an excuse to see Lindsay do something fun and not seriously be aiming for the moon, it took all pressure off, and why not make it a holiday grab at the same time...it's everything you want from a Lohan-Christmas-romcom-millennial-esque even right down to the Ali Lohan cameo.
