This movie is part 2 in the American Mobster film series. I think it continues the path nicely for Miami Crime Boss Nick Romano. Played by actor/writer Nino Cimino, this movie picks up 10 years after the first one ends. Cimino is very natural and believable playing Nick. The problem with too many low budget mob movies is that they try to copy famous mob film or shows like Goodfellas, Godfather, or Sopranos. This movie doesn't, choosing to stay away from cliche lines and setting the movie in Miami, rather than the east coast like many other mob movies do. I think they did a good job pulling off a fresh take on low budget mob movies. Cimino is a legit good actor, and has a powerful screen presence playing Nick. I for one would like to see him continue playing the character at least a couple more times.
With all the Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies that come out for the holidays, I feel like almost every idea for a Christmas movie has been used. Then this movie came along and proved me wrong. This is a hilarious Italian-Mafia movie centered around Christmas. I found myself laughing out loud during most of the movie, as did the group I was watching the movie with. It's a fish out of water story, told in a funny way. Jacilyn Marfuggi, the lead actress is just drop dead gorgeous, and has a real screen presence about her. But it's Nino Cimino's hysterical lead performance as Tony Pantera that brings down the house. This seems like a role Cimino was born to play. It looks like he also wrote the script, that might explain why he absolutely kills it in this movie. This movie made me LMFAO, you all need to check it out.
I saw the picture for this movie on Tubi, it looked somewhat suspenseful, so I decided to give it a try. To start off, this is a low budget independent movie, that being said, it still delivers. The story all takes place in one location, kind of cool that they made that work. The script has an easy to follow plot, I appreciate that so too many low budget movies try to make very complicated plots to their movies. The lead actor, Nino Cimino, is a very talented actor. His character "Sammy", is not what you think. He's a multi dimensional character, with layers upon layers. I will admit, Cimino's performance is the best thing about the movie. Definitely worth watching just for that reformat r alone.
