I've just barely gotten through Ep 2 and had to leave it. So far it seems like a silly, sexist romp with zero female integrity. Aside from Secretary Kim, who has stood up to that egotistical imbecile a few times, the other women in this series have so far come off as real stereotypes; the office shrew, the eating disorder woman, the new people pleaser secretary etc, the silly femmes. Very disappointing after watching so many amazing kdramas over the years. I cannot believe this show got an 8.0 rating! It feels like it was written for the 18-24 yr old demographic. These people are in their 30s! This show reminds me of another one I had to ditch because of the controlling male and intimidated insecure woman; When the Phone Rings. I watched more of that but it was still awful. After seeing Park Min Young in Healer and City Hunter where she was amazing, her other series have really sucked. Okay, Marry My Husband was pretty good, but the rest of them are far beneath her talent. I think the lead male in Secretary Kim is mediocre at best (in acting and looks) and whatever his trauma is (it started on that in Ep 2) I'd lost any investment in him as a character early in the episode. Mr. Park was much funnier and a better actor. I loved him in Attorney Woo. Kdramas are so unpredictable. Some are beyond amazing and some, like this one, are saccarine garbage.
From the get go I could just feel this didn't have the same vibe as the first two seasons. The plots were all thin, the family vapid (repeat of family in Season 1), the girlfriend group was a yawn and is Chelsea someone that's really going to end with a Rick character? Didn't feel like a 'soulmate' coupling to me. And Sam Rockwell just didn't fit into the storyline whatsoever. What was Mike White thinking? Lol At the beginning of Ep 8, I lost all interest in who was going to die, because really none of the characters were very likeable at all. A waste of time. Even Lochy was very similar to the son in Season 1 who had a much more profound spiritual experience.
I loved this show! Despite the violence, the underlying story, copycat and cop corruption/justice storyline it was really well done. Loved the main actor and reporter. Highly recommended! I saw the main actor Nam Ju-Hyuk in 2521 which was a bittersweet story. He has chops! And pretty easy on the eyes. It was nice to see Yoo Ji-Tae as well. Have not seen anything with him in it since Healer. Such a different role! And Yoon Kyung Ho from Gangnam B-Side. Love this actor. He's so versatile. I love kdramas that have a few side stories which this one did. The reporter was so impressive. Played by Kim So-jin. Perfectly cast. I also enjoyed the twist in the tale. Keep up the great work Korea!
