Were all of you who rated this high actually high when you watched it?
I'm a horrorholic and can love just about any movie in the sub-genres of the genre for one reason or another. Especially the gross and out there but there wasn't anything plausible about this movie in the "horror/dark comedy/satire" etc...realm at all.
Not even in science fiction does any of this make sense. An alien plunging out of someone's stomach actually seems somewhat possible but this DIY duplication nonsense with no information as to how it works or what the consequences are is just not even ironic enough to work. And for FREE?
What the $"@# was Coralie Fargeat thinking or was she at all? I cannot believe that this is what she thought would be the best way to approach this subject.
I think of all the really out there movies that most people will question their plausibility and laugh if they find this is acceptable.
I will, however, say that yes some of the cinematography was beautiful and Demi did a great job though she looked a lot like Courteney Cox in a bunch of scenes but it was really hard to believe she could barely move with one leg messed up let alone run around with both of them destroyed (and looking almost normal in those scenes).
And in what world of this "beauty standard" did the "monster" think they should make a public appearance when Elisabeth couldn't even drag her beautiful tush out for drinks? It doesn't make sense at all. Such a disappointment.
So many errors, so many poor choices, so many "pretend you don't have a brain" moments that I am still trying to understand why I finished watching it all. But then again I finish every single movie I watch because I'm weird like that and like to try to find some redeeming quality about everything I watch even when I shouldn't.
I think I'll go back to watching horror movies done by people who actually know what they're doing.

I just watched the new version of Speak No Evil and in typical fashion the Americanized version just had to change the ending that made the original absolutely incredible to watch as a horrorholic.
I didn't hate the 2024 version but it didn't have nearly the tension of the first. It didn't make you as angry as the first. It didn't make you wanna strangle all the actors like the first. And it didn't make you feel anything for the characters like the first.
As much as you can hate stupid naivety or pure evil in characters you still felt something for all of them in the first. The first 10/10 the second 6/10. And that's generous because it wasn't as awful as it could have been but really watch the original if you really want a good movie experience that will leave you reeling instead of oh well that happened.

Bad. Just all kinds of B-A-D bad. The writer could use a few classes on how to write a thriller and dialogue. I just can't believe this was allowed to be made. Tell me one woman who actually shows she has a clue would actually allow herself to be manipulated over and over again with the lamest lines ever. Totally missed the mark, could have been better if someone else had read the script other than the writer. -5 from me.
