I didn't know what to expect, because I wasn't at all familiar with the Stax history. All I knew were some legendary names like Otis, Booker T and Black Moses Isaac Hayes.
But what I gained was so much more than music.
It's a compelling, heartwarming story full of injustice, tragedy, vivid funny anecdotes, touching historical footage. Cultural rebellion with the spirit so strong, in times of systemic racism and massive oppression, shows how powerful a collective can be, no matter how discriminated against.
Wonderful and well rounded mini docu-series. Everyone should see this gem, it enriches your soul.

In the midst of the Baby Reindeer hype, I couldn't help but wonder how come something this brilliant like I May Destroy You didn't gain more popularity and wasn't as discussed virally. Sure, I've heard it being mentioned occasionally in some local feminist podcast and not so popular TikToks discussing important topics, truth be told rarely anywhere outside the feminist circles. I refuse to accept the main shocker that caused it is the difference in the protagonists' skin color and gender. But if it's not that, will someone please explain to me what caused this series not to be as talked about?!
Was it the fact that the leading actress (and a brilliant series creator) did all the things they still warn us women not to do in the 21st century? Dress inadequately, was opinionated, drank too much, partied too hard, stayed too late and was sometimes on her own, an easy prey?!
Disturbingly good, from the script, acting, visual aesthetics, soundtrack.
And highly recommended for anyone who wants to be a bit less judgmental and a bit more open and understanding.

Doesn't get any less funny after a 100th rewatch!
I am still wiping the tears from my face seeing the genuine though processes, at times brilliant, at times cringy, but all 100% relatable, coming from the comedy superstars capturing the essence of the british humor.
It is creative, psychological, but above all the most hilarious TV format I have seen in years.
Was it all scripted or not, it doesn't really matter. Superb leadership from both Alex Horne (the creative mastermind) and Greg Davis.
Noel Fielding, Bob Mortimer, Lee Mack, Catherine Ryan, Judie Love, to name just a few, no season, episode or a guest will disappoint you.
And yeah, look out for The Diverse Stripes, they might have a hit.
