I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. It was fast paced and you are left guessing who dun it all the way until the end of the final episode.
David Tennant is one of my favourite actors and he, Pena and Gunn were exceptional, in fact all the acting was great except for the child actor who plays Tom.
I binge-watched this series last night before coming here on IMDb to look at everyone's else's reviews to realise that it was a supposed to be a remake of the British of the ITV show Broadchurch ( which I hadn't watched).
Well, I'm watching Broadchurch now and it isn't a patch on Gracepoint. Furthermore that rabbity Colman woman is rubbish. Can't understand why she is given so much work menorah nepo I bet.

Not least because it was filmed in Australia, my favourite place on earth.
In Season 1, the story follows an investigative reporter from the Sydney Morning Herald coming to a small town in outer NSW to cover the story of a priest, who before ( or after?) the service, walks into the vestry, puts on his surplice, loads up a rifle and comes back out and shoots a bunch of men. He then submits to suicide by cop.
Understandably, we the viewer are utterly gripped after this WTF moment. Don't worry, it all makes perfect sense in the end.
Lovely cinematography, great acting and all too short 4 episodes to finish. Simply perfect.
Series 2 is similar, but I kinda guessed the villain halfway through ep 2/4. This time filmed in Western Australian stunning coastal surroundings and covers our protagonist's hometown and childhood along with the main story. Very poignant.

Laurel and Suzannah are best friends, Suzannah a wealthy woman in possession of a large summer house. Their children have spent every summer here. Belly, Laurel's daughter, has an unhealthy obsession with the place, and we see in later series her love choices are made on whether or not they will guarantee her spending the rest of her life in this house.
Laurel and her son Steven are the only characters and storylines worth watching. I am currently halfway through S3 E3.
This series nicely captures the emotions and conflict created by the situation the catchy title implies.
Belly's sudden descent into attractive womanhood, after being an ugly child leads a lot of problems. She's fickle with men, jumping from one to another every time some boy tells her she's pretty. I found Belly unlikeable and her attitude to life entitled, and failed to warm to her.
Series 2 was a total washout with an aunt planning to sell the place. This prompts Belly and Suzannah's sons into frenzied hysterical attempts to try and hold onto something that isn't even theirs. It's a wonder the aunt didn't get them arrested for trespass.
I'm only watching this to see if Conrad finds someone decent to love. Anyone but Belly, please.
