The haunting part is silly and not a central part of this lame whodunit. The visual effects with incessant thunder and lightning and torrential rains is vapid, the script is quite boring and the acting especially that of the doctor and child is embarrassingly amateurish and distracting . Poirot in the novels and most films arrive to his conclusions in a very methodical way, yet here it just does not make sense, did they accidentally edit out some important parts ? Not recommended for Agatha Christie fans , or for mystery fans , it was quite boring. Also, there isn't such a thing as a Halloween in Italy let alone in Venice where they have a much more elaborate and sophisticated Event called Carnivale so there was a lack of authenticity to add to other issues with this mediocre film .
First two episodes are impressive , edge of your seat knowing something bad is going to happen, a poignant and very strong character driven mystery/drama ! By the end of the second episode a major twist. Episode 3 they start to expand on the POV of various characters which continues up to the episode before last and that is when I started to lose interest . Starting from episode 3 to 6 it became more of a soap opera drama with so many storylines that were put there to prolong the series and I got so bored and started to hit the forward button , too bad because it had potential. An ok drama but there are much better mystery/thriller shows out there !
It starts strong, the suspense begins from the first scene, and the slashing starts 10 minutes later with the victim's actions not as you'd expect (predictably stupid). Then we move into the main course: 2 friends fleeing the city to the countryside to run away from early Covid restrictions and headaches. They are joined by a boyfriend and the 3 experience a hellish night with many surprises and twists It's a prolonged fight for survival that is virtually devoid of your usual cheap jump scares, predictability and victims making stupid decisions, even though there were scattered stupid moves here and there. For slasher fans this is one of the best this decade.
