I don't understand viewer ratings these days. This series is incredibly boring in spite of episodes packed with cameos.
I stopped watching after episode 4, and I can't remember laughing even once. It's all basic humor, jokes you'd expect from a 10 year old.
There are some cool shots of the LA area, and the acting is overall decent. I am not sure what the intent of this series was, self derision or ridicule, but it doesn't hit home for me. It feels like another high profile series hyped by a solid list of well-known actors, but has no substance.
I've been wondering lately if producers don't post fake positive reviews to influence the way we feel about movies or series. If everyone else loved it, it must be me, right?

This was an obvious attempt at replicating Top Gun, but without the chops. I dropped off three times, but finally made it through on the fourth attempt. I rented it for $2.99, that was a mistake.
The storyline is OK, at least now I know there are test pilots out there. Acting was also OK; not great, not horrible.
The part that was hard frustrating was the obvious Chinese propaganda and "us vs the world" antics. I watch movies to entertain myself, not to be brainwashed. It was rated 9.9 on Viki, the highest score I've ever seen on the app thus far. I am guessing the hero / martyr propaganda resonated with the Chinese audience.
