It says, when you die, you die for good. There is nothing there in the 'great beyond', no 'heaven', no meeting with your ancestors, your dad, mom, you just cease to exist altogether. It's like turning off your TV: sudden blackness. The last thought in your mind is 'I love y...' and there is nothing. Now, that is very, extremely hard to take as a thought before one dies. The nothingness. What about your mind, your consciousness, your feeling of ego, your identity? Where does it go? Does it go anywhere? The person you are. Well, that doesn't, it says. You die. You will no longer exist. Only the influences you made will live in others. Not you. I think that's why religions were invented. To make you believe that your own self won't disappear into nothingness. I also think that's why heaven and hell were invented... ...I believe it is a very thought-provoking project, full of atheism and a lot of wishful religious thinking at the same time.
A peach of a movie. Thoroughly entertaining, full of action as usual, yet the tension built up is unusual. There were some scenes when I could hear the silence so loud: nothing. No noise whatsoever. Total silence. That was the scene in the Russian submarine when everything went just mute. Obviously, it is a farewell to Tom Cruise as Ethan, rightly so, as he is not getting any younger. No one does. He looks weary, sometimes even tired of it. The story itself, however, keeps you on the edge of your seat constantly. I think (it is arguably) the best Mission: Impossible ever made. My only regret is that there has not been a successor named.
Uhh. This is really, really bad. If I thought that John Wick 2 or 3 were the worst movies ever made, I was wrong. This one goes even further down. I don't know where the bottom of these kinds of extremely horrible movies is, one worse than the other, just gore, and gore, and gore. Utterly disappointing, this one is. It engages 2 % of your brain cells and 98 % of your anger, rage, or whatever. I would say, what a shame for Tom Hardy, but I am way past that. He has been collaborating with this kind of BS for a decade now. There are no actors here, hence no acting: just people taking part in meaningless, uncontrolled violence depicted in a movie, intended to entertain us - me. It does not. It made me angry. 3 out of 10 is a fairly generous rating.
