I saw this as a teen at the time it came out (in an era were those around me bought into Cold War politics & Reagan worship) --at that time I found it amusing ( the slapstick humor -slap fights, the test scenes, etc.). Rewatched as a young adult and still enjoyed (though more annoyed by the sexism) and enjoyed it. Rewatching again as an adult, I noticed the cameos (Terry Gilliam, etc.), the small minor touches (the "Reds" poster in the cabin in Tajikistan, the Bob Hope allusion to his "Road To" films), and the fact that this was a reaction to Reagan's "star wars" bungle and his posture that threats & constant ramping up of grater weapons was a path to "safety". All that greater appreciation makes up for the parts that did not age well, so I still enjoy it, decades later.
