The cast is wonderful, as expected, but I even love the new characters, particularly the groundskeeper and his daughter! The setting of the manor house was a great idea, and the characters seem to grow and flourish in their new environment. The outdoor location opens up many possibilities. Plenty of laughs in new situations, and we get more backstory on the staff as well. I've watched the full series twice now, and I think it's every bit as good as the original show. Too bad it didn't catch on with audiences. It's certainly worthy of success, and my one disappointment is that there weren't more episodes.

With each passing episode, Darrin gets meaner and meaner. His treatment of Samantha is increasingly awful and anything but funny. It seems so out of step with 1968 and the late '60s in general. The writers and producers missed a wonderful opportunity to reflect the times and the changes of women's roles in society, not to mention people who are different than the norm. Instead, they dug their heels in deeper and made a chauvinistic monster out of their leading man. He constantly demands and forbids, and he never trusts Samantha or her non-magic abilities. He belittles her, and she just rolls with it, which is also unfortunate. It's a real shame they took this route with the show's development.
