The artistic scene in Minnesota is a thriving community. Whether you're into the fine arts, performing arts or any form of culture. You will find it here it in this public series. They profiled underwater photographer, muralists, wood carvers, sculptors and artists in other mediums. The music scene is thriving and there is more than Prince. The theater scene in Minneapolis is amazing too. The Guthrie might be the king but there are the Children's Theatre Company, the Jungle Theater and others. Then there is a dance scene profiled in their segments. Art is celebrated in Minnesota unlike anywhere else in the country. The irony is that you can be artist and live well there. So if you love the arts, you will love this show.
A. R. Gurney's play is about two lifelong friends, Andrew Makepeace and Melissa Gardner. Keir Dullea and Bonnie Franklin read side by side from the book. The play is satisfactory and easy to produce in actuality. The actors don't need to memorize their lines as the letters are right there. Keir and Bonnie are ideally suited to play the roles onstage. The production is somewhat stale as they sit at the table. The actors have to do all the work in making us feel for them and we do. Seacoast Repertory Theater in New Hampshire does excellent work. Although the play has been done to death by many other actors and actresses, I'm satisfied with this production.
2000 was the first of the new millennium century. As always we lost a lot of notable actors, actresses, directors, writers and even a film preservationist among them. Turner Classics Movies began paying tribute to them in an annual video. The music was perfectly understated. The video had plenty of memorable and unforgettable quotes. Rose Hobart gave the best line like "I suppose you want me out of the picture. Well, I'll never do that." There were others like Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Ann Doran, Beah Richards, Julie London and others. This video can show how they merge suitable and memorable quotes into this video.
