I was really looking forward to watching a new entry in the Fear Street series. The previous ones were pretty good so my expectations were high.
Unfortunately Prom Queen doesn't fulfil them at all. The best thing was the 80ies feeling and the look which is really like an 80ies college movie.
The kills were bloody. But this is a horror movie. And what's the biggest failure of a horror movie? That it isn't scary. And Prom Queen isn't scary at all, not a single minute. The story is boring, there was no suspense, the solution was a bit predictable, and the twist towards the end wasn't very logical.
Wasted potential. Could have been so much better! Not recommended.

This French shark movie was pretty fun. I like shark movies and there are sooooo many really bad ones with cheap CGI, unbearable storylines and stupid acting characters.
This one started with some nice underwater scenes. Characters were okay although I didn't really connect to any of them emotionally, so others are right when they say they don't care if the shark finds them or not. There's a bit of a dragging around the middle of the film.
The last 30 minutes or so are fantastic though. It's so crazy, you need to see it to believe it. The authors went crazy when creating this storyline. Ending was a nice European one which is great.
For a shark movie pretty entertaining. Solid with several flaws, but this is not arthouse, just plain entertainment.

I wasn't really sure what to expect when seeing this gem on Netflix and reading the synopsis. Is it a thriller? The plot sounded interesting.
It's a slow-paced, pretty dark movie about a quiet, depressed guy who has basically lost everything because of past alleged crimes and tries to work himself out of his grim life. When his childhood friend Misaki appears, a hopeful chapter seems to start off.
This is all packed into the setting of a small village where he works at an ecological recycling plant. Things start to get better. But do they really?
This is a stunning film. It's a highly involving, slow drama that you will not forget easily. The main actor Ryusei Yokohama is fantastic in this role. Cinematography, music, the setting, the actors are all great.
I don't understand the low rating here - maybe people were put off because it wasn't an action thriller film that they thought it is? If you're interested in great, dark dramas, definitely watch this one, highly recommended.
