I will give nothing away except to say that this wacky, outrageous and truly unique comedy needs to be experienced, at least once. The rather unusual assortment of characters might seem a touch less than credible for non-New Yorkers. They're typical for those you might meet if you stroll through the city. The cast is filled with faces that would become familiar in the coming years. The most familiar would be the young actor whose sixty second scene essentially introduced the character, Benjamin Braddock. Fifty eight years later, Benjamin still has one of the most recognizable names in the history of film and the actor is considered one of the great legends of our time.
My old friend Eli Wallach absolutely proves that he can carry a comedy. I'm not sure why he wasn't the lead actor in far more comedic films and TV shows. If he'd been a few years younger, he might have actually been cast as Benjamin.
My only question is, why doesn't the rather compelling, catchy and memorable title song seem to exist anywhere? Yes, it's played in pieces throughout the film, but I can't seem to find an isolated recording of it. It's in the same basic style as many classic sixties pieces, including the title song for Butterflies are Free. One would think that someone would have taken the opportunity to make The Tiger Makes Out into a camp classic and radio hit.
If anyone can track down the song, outside of the film, please track me down and share it.
