Classificação de ronaldius
The end is important in all things, as we have learned from Ghost Dog, and this is absolutely true when speaking of Night Watch. After about twenty minutes you think you know exactly where the plot will end. It really seems that this is the director's and writer's fault, because they give away too many clues, so I almost instantly lost interest. But after the many dull scenes following the brilliant visualization of Lizzies nightmare comes the unexpected ending. And this makes the whole movie worth watching, but as I've already mentioned: it is mostly the nightmare-scene which deserves the credit.
'De Lift' will not please every audience, but when you watch this open-minded and focused on the best dialogue you'll ever hear (check out Peer Mascini when he unravels the secrets of 'microprocessor-systemen'!), the terrific sound effects (the elevator), and the portrayel of Felix' familylife (the bowling-alley scene is the product of an outstanding ability of observation by director Maas), you'll realize that you're watching the best eighties horror movie ever made. And remember that 'De Lift' is the debut of Dick Maas! And for all you Dutch viewers ('cause I guess many of the movie's genuine merits will be lost in dubbing): de scène met de doppen en Hawaii is toch het toppunt van kleinburgerlijkheid: de jaren tachtig in een notendop.
