My wife and I love movies, have been going to the theaters for years. We got in on the ground floor of collecting VHS movies, really enjoying having our own copy at home and watch whenever we wanted. After having well over 100 movies, I needed a better way to keep track of them, and and started to catalog all our VHS collection using a database program. I needed some further information, other than what was on the VHS boxes, and discovered IMDb. I am sure I have an older account, which was under an older email address, but I am using this one as the main account, created it in December 1999.

Years later, I found this great program created just for movie collections, and it had built into it, a link to IMDb which was the main reason I picked the program over another two that were available at the time. It was the best pick I made in some time, between the great customer support for the program, the link to IMDb was outstanding. Over the years DVD's were added.

We continue to go out to the theaters to watch movies. And we have continued collecting our own, we still maintain the VHS movies, and have added several hundred DVD (and newer types) to our collection. The movie collection program still has customer support, the owner has retired, but maintains it. We still use that program, it remains one of the best. The IMDb has been incorporated into the program so much more now, and has become a major tool to use.

We have started using mobile phones, and using the IMDb phone app. We love it. We can check on new movies, theaters, and so much more. We enjoy giving our ratings to movies we watch ... and we a so behind in giving our ratings, we always had just rated them in our own program, it has been using the IMDb phone app that we started to rate them as we watched them.
