I saw this today in my grade 10 English class, I loved it (ok, ok, I was the only one who saw the genius behind it, everyone else hated it and was pleased it "killed time") In my honest opinion I thought this was a great movie that was very provocative and well done.
When I was 8 I saw the very first episode of Homicide, and fell in love with it. Granted, I really didn't have a clue what was going on then, but I do now. I know that viewers have been falling in love with this show for many reasons: it's smart, savvy, realistic (sometimes brutally so), has a diverse cast who actually know how to act, and is very unique. Yet TV guide calls it "The best show, your not watching." Despite Emmy and Peabody awards, Homicide, I find did not get the credit it deserved.
There has never been a show like Homicide before, now that NBC has cancelled it (without good reason), I doubt we'll ever see anything like it again. Never before has a show relied on brains rather than looks, I was so proud of HLOTS for not becoming a "Soap Opera" type police show. No wonder it lasted 7 years, I feel it would have lasted many more wonderful seasons, if had it not been cancelled.
You will either love it, or hate it, I chose to love it, I hope you do too.
There is so much more to say about the shows terrific camera work, plots, and characters, But how can you sum up your feelings for this show??

It's enchanting, it's hard to believe that such a terrific show once existed. I fell in love with Alice while watching reruns as a young girl, and I'm so happy to see that the reruns are being aired on TNN.
It's a very light hearted show, you don't have to really think about anything, you can just sit back and relax.
All the actors (especially in the first few seasons) are amazing to watch, no wonder it lasted 9 years.
