Series has its highs and lows. Technically very well made, storytelling is not up to the mark. Lead actors have done justice to the role though. Watch only if you know Punjabi else you'll not get the essence of the characters. While the story is based on real events but somehow it could become relatable. Lot of characters had the chance to shine but they just managed to act their part. Music is gripping and I wish they could have used more of it so that people could establish a strong connection. The real events had lot more to it and I believe this could have been a chance to make it two part series but they rushed it to complete it in one part only.
"Kanneda" is a compelling TV series that gracefully blends suspense, emotion, and cultural depth into a powerful narrative. From the very first episode, it hooks you with its mysterious storyline and layered characters, and it only grows more intense with each passing installment.
The series follows a thoughtful and well-paced structure, with the mystery unfolding through beautifully shot scenes and intelligent writing. The cinematography is stunning, especially in how it captures both the stillness and tension of pivotal moments. The background score is subtle yet effective, enhancing the emotional weight without overpowering the dialogue.
The lead performance is particularly noteworthy - the protagonist (played with nuance and restraint) is someone you root for, not because they are perfect, but because they are human. The supporting cast also shines, bringing authenticity to the world of Kanneda.
One of the standout features of this series is its ability to address larger themes - identity, loss, and truth - while maintaining a tightly-woven plot. It respects the intelligence of its viewers and never resorts to cheap twists or melodrama.
While a few episodes in the mid-season feel slightly slower, they serve to build the emotional stakes, making the finale all the more satisfying.
Verdict: If you're a fan of atmospheric thrillers with emotional depth and thoughtful storytelling, Kanneda is not to be missed. It's a series that honors tradition while exploring fresh, bold ideas - a rare blend in today's television landscape.

The premise is good but feels rushed.
We don't feel connected to the lead trio. We should have spent some time with them in the first episode. Could also be because they aren't ad great actors as their more experienced costars, but still there are few to no moments where we see any glimpses into their friendship and their life.
I don't know if this was a limitation from the platform or lack of vision from the creators, but this single problem makes the whole series look very shallow.
Similarly, not much is on the life in Canada. Nothing that makes it feel unique to Canada. This could have been based on any modern city in India.
Udta Punjab + Jannat + Once upon a time in Mumbai + Satya = Kannada.
On the other hand we spend good time with the supporting trio - Bajwa, Sanjay and Sarabh. We go deeper into their life and explore the nuances of their characters with powerful performances.
Overall an OK one time watch that could have been lot better.

The series is amazing, many are criticizing it for the "Bindy Johal" characterisation, they already stated that its not based on bindy johal, its loosely based on 90s drug scene in Canada, Its an absolute entertainment, you can find some problems in it, but as a normal entertainment consumer, you wont find any problem. Moreover, I feel like Indians from other state might not feel the same thrill because of different culture and environment, the word "Kanneda" also comes from common Punjabi lingo, thats how most punjabi say Canada. Parmish Verma's acting was great according to my opinion, also the side characters played an important role in shaping the emotions. Its an action packed, and a lil bit emotional series. I loved it.
"Kanneda" is a compelling crime drama set in 1990s Toronto, tracing the tumultuous journey of Nimma, a Punjabi singer portrayed by Parmish Verma. Fleeing the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Nimma seeks a fresh start in Canada but confronts systemic racism and societal challenges. His pursuit of success entangles him in the perilous world of gang culture. Verma's portrayal of Nimma is both authentic and captivating, capturing the essence of an immigrant's struggle and resilience. The series delves deep into themes of identity, ambition, and the sacrifices made for survival. While the pacing occasionally falters, the emotional depth and powerful performances make "Kanneda" a must-watch.
