Saving Grace

This is a fantastic series from the Philippines,the storyline is so different from other series i have watched and as a 84 year old man I have watched many from Hollywood to more recently over the past decade to Turkish,k dramas,c dramas and some Japanese dramas,but this series,saving grace was one of the best,it really hit home on what life can be with an abused child these days.the storyline is about a teacher named Anna who teaches to young children around 8 years old in her class is a 8 year old girl named grace who is an adopted girl to parents who abused her,Anna noticed that grace was coming to school with bruises on her face now this 8 year old actress who plays grace will steal your heart because she is that good you will cry alot when you share her pain,sorrow and joy.the story continues as Anna's female maternal kicks in to protect her from her parents who were reported to home services for child abuse now grace was scared to accuse her parents because this was her only parents who adopted her.as this story continues grace develops a strong bond with Anna and like wise. Anna has a job opportunity that would mean she would have to leave grace and the school but grace doesn't want Anna to leave her alone to be abused by her parents again, the strong bond between Anna and grace makes Anna decide to take her away from her parents as by law that's kidnapping now Anna also was adopted her self and had problems with her siblings so she couldn't take grace to her home. As the episodes continues they go through a lot of drama, keeping ahead of grace's parents and the police, there are a lot of twist and turns to this story that you have to see to understand also i have to say that i have never posted a review on IMDb before but i have read many reviews before I watch any movie or series and that helps me to see if i want to watch them.this series has 14 episodes, i have watched 12 already because thats what is available, the last two episodes won't be available until January 9th so I don't know how this will end but I have a gut feeling that it will be a happy ending, i hope.

About 50-60% of the show is crying and screaming. It is over exaggerated to the point of being cringe and unwatchable.

The story is not terrible but not good either. Something that could be inside 1-2 episodes was stretched into too many and lots of empty holes filled with constant screaming on each other for no reason or repeating the same dialogs over and over. Or crying over the same repeated thing that becomes quite boring fast.

The excessive melodrama overshadows any genuine emotional depth, making it exhausting to watch. While there are glimpses of really good performances, the script and direction waste their talent on endless repetition.

'Saving Grace' dives into sensitive topics such as physical abuse, motherhood and childhood trauma. I can't say enough about the impact of this series. The performances are outstanding, the story is gripping, the writing is top-notch, the direction is just right with no filler and no wasted scenes. To be honest, this is extremely hard for me to watch because of the subject matter. I felt so anxious. Despite it being emotionally draining, I think it deserves to be watched.

This is not your typical Filipino drama. It is a human drama-very real, very tragic with unforeseen twists and turns. It is the story of children and their mothers and it is near perfect. The young girl, Zia Grace steals this drama with her performance of the abused child, she is without a doubt, the best! The emotion is easily seen through her eyes. I can say now that we have a new child wonder. Also the entire cast is excellent: Julia Montes, in her comeback series on ABS-CBN, proved how much of a great actress she is, the emotion, the gestures, facial expression, body language-she nails it! Christian Bables is an impeccable actor. His character is wildly violent and dangerous, he is likely to explode any time. He mastered his character and managed to deliver it in the best way possible. Jennica Garcia is a revelation. She showed her versatility and passion as an actress. Her character as Sarah Banaag is a role you'll love to hate! And of course, two of the best actresses of Philippine showbiz, Janice De Belen and the one and only Megastar, Sharon Cuneta- they deliver their best performances in this series. They were astonishing, effortlessly blending with the great actors in the series.

'Saving Grace' is a show that aims to entertain people while serving as an eye-opener as well. It is a story that is very much relevant to the world we live in today, and has substance; and delivered in the best way possible to draw the audience in.
