Os altos e baixos do amor

Unlike the other reviewers I liked this movie. You just shouldn't expect an intelligent or remarkable plot with complex characters or something. But it's a nice movie, with pleasant people, fun to watch and stunning views of beautiful Gotland. The film starts in Stockholm with the young couple. Perhaps they should have dived a bit deeper into the start of their relationship. To get a better understanding of the family relationships. That could have given it a bit more substance. The film has to be seen as entertainment. To cut it short: it made me laugh, it's nice unpretentious story and Gotland is a feast for the eyes. So it you are looking for a nice distraction, this could be it.

Interesting movie that tries to create a meet the fockers silly movie. Missed the mark with predictable conflicts at every turn and a plot that doesn't really lead up to anything or any changes in the characters. Even the side plot is a bit meh. The humor work for anyone that comes comes from a strong culture and can relate how hard it is to express yourself when it conflicts with culture.

There are many cliches about rural life, island culture, and overbearing mothers that I think annoyed people. If you ignore that, the overall movie is cute and deserves better than the 3-4 star reviews it is getting.

Somebody please tell me that I'm not hallucinating. This must be one of the weakest so-called romantic comedies in years. If I'm not wrong, the intent of a comedy is to make you laugh - which is never the case in this abysmal attempt. The story is not only lame and so cliché you want to force the "creative" filmmakers to watch some genuine classic romcoms like Alex in Clockwork Orange. I doubt that would have made much difference though, as this G-d awful mess of film is beyond repair. Who are the filmmakers and whoever felt they should have been trusted with the task?

I would have loved to have sat in on some of the creative chats where they discussed the plot and characters. It must have been very short meetings.

Its a shame really because the soundtrack to this film is the only thing I really liked about it. As far as the romantic comedy aspect is concerned I did not see much of that and it did not work and might even be one of the worst I have seen. So hanna and samual are stockholm residents that want to get married. Their hoping things will go off without a hitch but of course when family is concerned it would never go right. The acting was done well id say. The abysmal english dubbing I cannot get over and actually made this film worse. Unfortunatly just not a great film overall especially realased for valentines.

A typical standard representative for a Scandinavian Netflix movie: flat story, lots of cliches and easy entertainment. Ok to watch once, wouldn't watch it again. It's actually a pity, because the actors are great, the setting is spectacular (IMOH), there is potential, but the actual movie is kind of lame :-( It's one of the movies where you are waiting for something spectacular to happen. It's difficult to mention details without spoiling the experience, but there is quite a potential. It seems like most of the effort has gone into informing what soundtracks/songs are being used and to do product/location marketing.
