I was a huge fan of The People's Court. When Judge Millian was put in this new show Justice for the People, I watched a few episodes and then quit. This is a poor substitute for what Judge Marilyn Millian had on The People's Court. Not only is the content poor, the screen format is awful. I'm really disappointed.
The cases are scripted and unlike The People's Court which had real cases with real litigants. That kept it interesting because it was different every time and unpredictable.
The set feels cheap and the overall production feels so amateurish. It almost feels as if Byron Allen was snubbing his nose at Judge Millian's talent and putting her in a position to have her show fail. He replaced her show with some less-than-spectacular judge shows that I can't even watch.

I wanted to watch Judge Milian's new show and realized about 2 minutes in that this is scripted. I then came here to IMDB and sure enough, it lists the actors!!
First clue: the preamble announcing they don't use actors and these are real cases is gone Second clue: the set Third: the dirty looks from the "litigants" before the hearing started.
My local station airs TPC right after this new show. It allows one to see all the differences between the two show formats. Big difference.
And then I saw that this is a Byron Allen Production. That company produces Judge Mathis, Judge Mablean and the other scripted shows. There must be an audience for this but I'm not it.

I watched The People's Court for at least 15 years. The last episode was incredible. This thing is terrible. Unwatchable. Makes me sad to see Marilyn stooping to this level for a show. I learned so much from the People's Court over the years. Why you sign a contract, how to deal with home improvement projects, getting receipts for things. Real life stuff that isn't taught in school. I got through about 4 episodes of this before I pulled the plug. Completely scripted with actors instead of litigants. Don't even waste your time on it. At least Judy Justice is still real. This thing is pure garbage. Bring back what people want, the REAL People's Court!
I absolutely love love LOVE Judge Marilyn Milian. I need to file a civil lawsuit (just haven't gotten around to it yet) and was hoping to have her preside over my case on the People's Court. Out of all the Judges on TV, I can't think of one case she's presided over where I've disagreed with the verdict. In my opinion, she's the most down-to-earth judge/person on the planet - that's how much I think of her. Just now I googled how to appear on the People's Court and found she now has her own show. So now, I googled how to have my case heard by her, and found the episodes are all scripted. Not only am I surprised they're scripted, but extremely disappointed. I'm really hoping she will change this and hear real cases instead of having actors. 😢
I'm so disappointed with this show. It is neither educational nor entertaining. It is scripted with very poor actors and by allowing the back and forth exchanges between the "litigants" is ridiculous. That behavior is not acceptable in a real courtroom and cheapens the show. The set is cold and cheap looking as is the sound. Even the closing music is annoying! It is much like fingernails on a blackboard. I have been a dedicated fan of Judge Marilyn Milan since she joined The People's Court. I recorded and watched daily episodes of that program. This show however, I'm not a fan and cannot watch.
