Tom e Jerry: Robin Hood e seu Ratinho Feliz

At just under an hour it's not slow paced, the story follows the classic formula and apart from the refreshing introduction of Tom and Jerry it plays out in much the same way with a surprisingly decent amount of action.

It's nowhere near as good as some of the other Robin Hood adaptions but I'm finding it difficult to fault it for what it is, the characters are all there and perhaps they're a average in their characterisation it's not boring. I would have liked to see a bit more from Maid Marian however.

We asked two of our youth film critics what they thought of this latest release of Tom and Jerry films. Here's what they told us:

"Who doesn't love Tom and Jerry?" asks KIDS FIRST! youth film critic Morgan Bertsch, age 8. And who doesn't love Robin Hood? Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse, recently released by Warner Home Video on DVD and Blu-ray, combines both favorites in a rollicking adventure with all the familiar good guys and bad guys.

"The story is the traditional story of Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, with Jerry Mouse as Robin Hood's sidekick," explains 11-year-old KIDS FIRST! youth film critic Camille Bajema. Enjoying the movie's "wacky humor," she adds, "I think that the animation in this film is actually pretty good because it's not too perfect and it's a little goofy, like the characters."

I really love the wacky humor in this movie. The story is the traditional story of Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, with Jerry Mouse as Robin Hood's sidekick. When the King comes back home from war, he finds his brother has taken over the kingdom and has decided to kill him. Tom Cat must kill Jerry Mouse so he doesn't find out and alert Robin Hood. When Maid Marian, Robin Hood's true love, and Jerry Mouse (and, later, even Tom Cat) find out about this, they must join forces and help Robin Hood and his men escape from jail in time to save the good king and overthrow the bad one.

My favorite character in this film is Tom Cat. I've always loved Tom & Jerry, and Tom has always been my favorite character because he's always trying to catch Jerry, but the little mouse always outwits him and Tom ends up looking like a fool!

My favorite scene in this film is when Jerry is ordered to bring a poem to Maid Marian, and of course everyone loves her. Tom and Jerry watch her sing together, but then realize that they're supposed to be fighting!

I think that the animation in this film is actually pretty good because it's not too perfect and it's a little goofy, like the characters!

I recommend this film to people between the ages of three to thirty because I think that the humor and silliness of the Tom & Jerry films can appeal to just about everyone!

I give Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse four-and-a-half out of five stars because it gets a bit repetitive. Overall, I really enjoyed this film!

I like the twist on the classic Robin Hood. I love the high-flying adventure, and also the sword-fighting was amazing.

This was classic Tom & Jerry animation, and who doesn't love Tom & Jerry?

My favorite characters are Droopy Dog and Jerry, because Jerry was pretty brave for a mouse! And Droopy Dog because he has the cutest voice ever. My favorite scene is when Maid Marian is singing, because she has a great voice.

The age range is 4 and up, as long as the little ones know that this is not real. I give it five twinkling stars.

I've seen plenty of Robin Hood adaptations, over the years. But with Robin Hood and his Merry Mouse; I've not felt so entertained by a film on this subject, since Disney's take on it decades ago.

It has a pleasant balance of the typical Robin Hood story and appearances by famous Tom and Jerry/Tex Avery characters. The music was great (especially the opening theme with the trumpet fanfare,) the voice cast was entertaining and I especially loved the ending (which I won't spoil for those who haven't seen it.) This movie is fun for Robin Hood/Tom and Jerry fans of all ages. I highly recommend you all give this a look either on TV or DVD

The classic, timeless story of Robin Hood being retold by adding famous animation characters like Tom, Jerry, Droopy, Spike and others. Jerry plays the role of Robin Hood's tiny assistant while Tom helps the Sheriff of Nottingham to eliminate the spy.

I'm not going to tell the rest of the story because it's very well- known but I'm going to tell you that it's a great movie. Very funny, well written, entertaining through its music and decor, containing a bit of drama and tension just to spice things up a bit and an all-loved happy ending (plus an unexpected turn of events). It reminds me of the old Tom & Jerry episodes in some ways, proving that even in our days some all-time great cartoons can be brought to life. I really enjoyed it and so will you, especially if you're a cartoon/animation fan like myself!

I adore Tom and Jerry and have done since I was about 5 or 6. Their movies have been hit and miss, Wizard of Oz, Nutcracker Tale and Blast off to Mars I loved, Shiver Me Whiskers and Meet Sherlock Holmes I liked but Tom and Jerry:The Movie was one I didn't care for and I hated Fast and the Furry. Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse was one of those that I liked. It is not perfect, it is too short and just about an hour, some parts did feel on the rushed side and while I quite liked her Tex Avery-like character design I did find that making Maid Marian a ditzy sex object was rather stereotypical. On the other hand, the animation is bright, bouncy and colourful, the incidental music rouses successfully and while some will argue that there was no need to have any songs these were breezy in style and catchy in melody. I also enjoyed the clever dialogue and the always entertaining, well-told, no matter how simple it is, story that does have the Robin Hood/Tom and Jerry/Tex Avery spirits all in one. The cat-vs-mouse humour, physically or verbally, is amusing and doesn't feel routine, the homages to Tom and Jerry and also to Tex Avery and Droopy Dog were really inspired. The characters are engaging, Robin Hood especially is very likable, while Tom and Jerry are true to form and Spike and Droopy steal every scene they're in. Excepting Maid Marion, the other obligatory Robin Hood characters are great to see, Friar Tuck and Little John especially while the villains are not too menacing and not too over-the-top either. The voice acting is fine too, I did admire the fact that Tom and Jerry are still kept silent. Overall, entertaining. 7/10 Bethany Cox
