This is by far the best tv series in the world as romantic comedy and I am not a fan of rom-coms. Those who managed to finish this series are not disappointed for sure but if you just leave it in the first 5 episodes you loose pretty much your humanity. It includes very much fun and every hurtfull moment is well chosen in the storyline. I have never cried in any movie or tv series or even at my father's funeral yet the final episode made me cry like a baby..
"My girlfriend is a Gumiho" is a popular South Korean romantic-comedy- mythological drama series that involved the story of a gumiho or a nine tailed fox whose desire is to live human life and an ambitious actor guy who incidentally met her. And it's a worth-watching melodrama series. Initially my sassy girl-crush Jun Ji Hyun turned down the role of heroine gumiho- that's great because it's destined to be Shin-Min-Ah's show I think. She was very cute, natural, and lovely as a gumiho, also a real fashionista- most of the times her simple dress-up suited her perfectly. The chemistry between her and the talented hero Lee Sung- Gi ( as Cha-Tae-Woong) was adorable too bringing both emotional and funny scenes. Yes, many times the drama was so funny that I laughed a lot and felt that it's one of the best drama series I had watched so far. A lot of passers-by and random characters focused by camera also added more natural flavor. The soundtracks specially the theme song were awesome and natural acting of other side characters- half human Dong-Ju ( thumbs up for No Min Woo! ) , Woong's aunt and grandfather , director and villain-like Hye-In brought fun and suspense. So although in the ending episodes it became a bit cliché and a little more story development and care for side characters would be much better, overall it's a lovely-enjoyable drama.
However, 500+ years old gumiho obviously reminded me of 400+ years old alien Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) from my previously watched outstanding series "My Love from the Star". Gumiho heroine looked too naive where alien hero looked cool and wise but undoubtedly the both were so adorable at so many times. So why all these cute and lovely supernatural creatures from fictions come to Korea only can be a topic of good thoughts! :p :)

The acting in this show is pretty cheesy, the only one who can really act properly is Seung-gi (and the other mystical vet guy), but then it's probably what the producer intended! Somehow amongst all the dramatic pauses, the fart jokes, a strange obsession with cows and strange minor characters it seems to work and all come together well. If you can get past all that it's a good show worth watching.
Okay, so I have to tell you that "My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho" is the best if you like K-dramas or just want to laugh. I really enjoyed watching it, and I think you would too.
First of all, the idea is great! We're talking about a gumiho, which is a fox with nine tails that can change into a woman, and then... bam! She starts going out with someone. Doesn't that sound crazy? But that's what makes it so great. The idea is so fun and different that you can't help but be drawn in.
The relationship between the main characters, Cha Dae-woong (played by the awesome Lee Seung-gi) and Mi-ho (played by the charming Shin Min-a), is like TV gold. You have Dae-woong, who was scared when he found out the real Mi-ho, and then fell head over heels for her. Their love story isn't just sweet; it's also funny and makes you really feel for them.
Mi-ho, who is played by Shin Min-a, is another character. She's a magical creature, but she's so sweet and playful that it's hard not to like her. You can't help but cheer for her!
There are a lot more laughs because of the other people in the story. They have their own little stories, which can sometimes make it seem like they're there just for fun, but you know what? They're so funny that I didn't care.
One thing I really liked about this show is how it mixes in bits of Korean myths. I mean, how often do you get to see a gumiho on TV? Also, the visual effects are really cool. The parts where the characters change are like, wow.
I do have to say that the last few shows felt like they were rushed. It seems like they tried to wrap everything up very quickly, which was a bit of a bummer. But really, it doesn't take away much from how fun the series is as a whole.
In the end, "My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho" is one of those shows that has a lot of heart, laughs, love, and drama. If you like K-dramas or just want a show that will make you laugh and keep you entertained, you should definitely give this one a try! It's fun as a roller coaster!
