The story is predictable and rather boring, what makes it even worse is that the actors are not good at acting. The Indonesian movie Industry always has a bad habit where they choose uprising influencers to be an actor in a movie, whether they are bad at acting. I wonder if they do an audition at all.
The concept is unique, but they messed up with the actors and the ending, which is highly disappointing. They could have made a better movie if they used real actors instead of influencers who do Tiktok and take Instagram pictures daily. A good movie isn't based on how famous the actors are; it is good because they have a solid story and good acting skills.

I don't even know where to start from. Everything about this movie is pathetic, right from the start to the end! Looks like some school kid just took his phone camera and made this movie to have fun. I tried really hard to like at least something about the movie, but I failed. There's no plot, the actors are all horrible. If you're reading this review, then I can assure you that even you can make a better movie than this one. It is that bad!

You will definitely leave the theater with a headache after watching this movie.

Here, we're introduced with another mockumentary; found footage like movie.
The introduction of this movie is serendipitous and fairly unique. I thought it was an ad/trailer of a movie but it turns out to litteraly be the introduction of this movie.
Halfway throughout the movie, tension starts to build up with the help of abrupt jumpscares and fights between the Casts/Actors. This also adds a little "realism" into the atmosphere of this mockumentary.
The ending of the movie is sorrowful and quiet disappointing. It could've been way better if the Director (Monty Tiwa) puts a little more effort for the rest of this movie.
In conclusion, this is fairly decent for a 2022 mockumentary movie. The delivery is on point and the details are acceptable.
I would highly reccomend to watch the first Keramat then watch this Keramat 2 after.

Watching this film is like testing your brain's ability to think, then you realize that it turns out that you don't need a brain to watch this kind of trash film. His acting is abysmal. Trash story. The logic is used. Ride on the name of the prequel in order to succeed. There are as many plot holes as the acne scars on my face. The only good thing about this film is that it makes a number of immoral people gather in one studio to watch which in the end leaves little oxygen for at least 1 hour more outside. I'm grateful that I don't go to the cinema, wasting money on bad movie tickets is a waste of my wallet. I watched it on netflix, even then I was forced!
Keramat 2: Caruban Larang stands out as one of the finest examples of how Indonesian horror can thrive through its cultural roots. Serving as a spiritual sequel to Keramat (2009), this film takes the found footage genre and elevates it with a fresh, modern approach while staying grounded in local mysticism.
One of the film's strongest elements is its natural documentary-style storytelling. The handheld camera work immerses the audience right into the characters' terrifying experiences. Conversations feel spontaneous, capturing the authentic way young people interact today, which makes the story even more believable and relatable.
What makes Keramat 2 so impressive is its bold portrayal of Javanese traditions, rituals, and beliefs - elements rarely explored this deeply in Indonesian horror cinema. The film doesn't exaggerate its cultural references but presents them in a raw, authentic manner that enhances the eerie atmosphere. The audience is invited not only to witness a horror story but also to learn about local wisdom and supernatural customs that have existed for generations.
The performances deserve recognition. While most of the cast features new faces, their acting feels organic and convincing. Their reactions to the unfolding horrors feel real, intensifying the sense of dread and making it easier for the audience to emotionally invest in the story.
Technically, the film delivers on all fronts. Its sound design and musical score are crafted to build tension and unease from start to finish. The cinematography, while intentionally rough and handheld, remains consistent and effective in capturing both the beauty of the rural setting and the creeping terror within it.
I rate Keramat 2: Caruban Larang a 9/10 for successfully delivering an Indonesian horror experience that feels both refreshing and culturally meaningful. It avoids cheap jump scares and instead relies on a naturally escalating tension and the weight of ancient traditions.
This film is a testament to how horror can be deeply rooted in folklore and still resonate with modern audiences. If you're a fan of horror with a strong cultural backdrop and immersive atmosphere, Keramat 2 absolutely belongs on your watchlist.
