10 My Hero Academia Characters Who Could Outsmart All For One
Image
In My Hero Academia, it takes more than Quirks and punches to win the day, even if pro heroes like All Might and Mirko rely heavily on sheer force to win the day. There's also the matter of smarts and creative thinking, which allows many other pro heroes, student heroes, and villains to shine. Brainwork is the best Quirk, sometimes literally, and it can even help some characters outfox the likes of All For One.

It's true All For One is one of My Hero Academia's smartest characters of all, but his intelligence is geared for long-term planning, while he's more vulnerable in the short term. As fans saw in Season 7, it's possible to deceive and outwit All For One in brief bursts, and certain My Hero Academia characters are up for the job. They haven't beat the great villain just yet, but if they need one good trick to throw him off-balance,...

Marvel and ‘My Hero Academia’s Wild New Crossover Brings Two Winged Heroes Together
Image
My Hero Academia and Marvel Studios just teamed up for something special. The official Japanese accounts for both announced a crossover on February 6, celebrating the upcoming movie Captain America: Brave New World. This collaboration highlights two winged warriors: Hawks from My Hero Academia and Sam Wilson, the new Captain America.

The My Hero Academia account shared a fresh visual featuring both characters, while Marvel Studios dropped a special video narrated by Yūichi Nakamura. He’s the voice of Hawks in the anime and also dubbed Chris Evans’ Captain America in several Marvel films like The Avengers and Captain America: The First Avenger.

The video was later uploaded to Toho animation’s YouTube channel, showing moments from My Hero Academia, past MCU films, and Brave New World, linking the two characters through their flight-based abilities.

This isn’t the first time these two worlds have collided. Back in 2018, My Hero Academia...

Anime villains are beloved by the anime community, and have become important figures in pop culture. Villains come in all different forms, and since their characterization varies by series, it is nearly impossible for fans not to find a villain they like. From tragic villains such as Dabi Todoroki and Ulquiorra and anti-heroes like Itachi Uchiha and Light Yagami, to those classified as pure evil such as Griffith and Ryomen Sukuna, there's a villain to match everyone's preferences.

Sukuna is the main antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen, and he is widely regarded as one of the most evil anime villains ever. In universe, Sukuna is known as the King of Curses and he certainly lived up to the title by committing some of the most cruel acts in Jujutsu Kaisen. Sukuna’s ruthlessness and sadism are reasons he is widely considered as one of the most evil anime villains. However, there...

Anime Doesn't Need a New All Might. It Already Has a Successor in Naruto, Okay?
Image
My Hero Academia's All Might is one of the most iconic characters the anime industry has produced. Embodying the classic traits of Superman, All Might stands as one of the strongest characters, representing hope and strength unparalleled in the medium. While All Might's role as a beacon of hope and his unmatched power set him apart, Naruto has long embodied similar hopeful traits, even before All Might's time.

Starting as an orphaned child who was hated and feared by others, Naruto never strayed onto the wrong path. With crucial support from Iruka Umino, he transformed his feelings of hatred into determination, striving to become Hokage to earn respect and recognition. Through relentless effort, Naruto achieved remarkable feats, and at just 16 years old, he defeated Kaguya, saving the world from the threat of global genocide. This highlights his unparalleled strength, and at his current age, he should have been the strongest in the sequel,...

My Hero Academia: All For One's Most Powerful Quirks, Explained
Image
Most characters in the world of My Hero Academia are born with a single Quirk, but All For One is an entirely different matter with his own Quirk of the same name. He was born into the early era of Quirks, back when few people understood or appreciated these supernatural gifts, and All For One made the most of that confusing era. He had the ability to transfer Quirks between people, including himself, and no one in his era could stop him from abusing his remarkable ability.

Over many decades, All For One amassed an incredible number of stolen Quirks to use. It's impressive not just that he has so many Quirks, but that his body can withstand the strain of having so many superpowers at once, making him a one-man army who has defeated a succession of One For All users. This is a perfect time for My Hero Academia...

10 Most Important Characters in My Hero Academia (Who Aren't Deku or All Might)
Image
The superhero story of My Hero Academia may have a generous cast of characters on both sides of the heroes vs villains struggle, but only a select few of them could be called seriously important for the plot. Most students in classes 1-a and 1-b are just filler, and the same is even true of some pro heroes and villains, while certain characters are indispensable to the story. These plot-centric characters make all the difference between the things they say and do, and they usually appear in the most critical plot twists, too.

It's a given that protagonist Izuku Midoriya/Deku is the most important My Hero Academia character, since the entire plot happened thanks to him getting One For All and fighting as a hero. Something similar can be said about the symbol of peace, All Might, who made Deku's rise to power possible. If fans don't count those obvious inclusions,...

Every Father Figure in My Hero Academia, Ranked from Worst to Best
Image
In a shonen anime like My Hero Academia, many of the main characters are in their teens, meaning they need parental figures to protect them, guide them, and support them as they grow up. While there are a few notable mother figures in My Hero Academia, like Inko Midoriya and Nana Shimura, the anime focuses even more on father figures, men who either supported their own children or served as a father figure to someone else.

The anime has a notable collection of father figures, biological and otherwise, who range from abusive monsters to exemplary parental figures, and everything in between. Sometimes, the characters might not consider themselves father figures first and foremost, but that is still one of their major roles in the story all the same. Some of those men wouldn't call themselves parental figures, but for certain youths in their lives, that is absolutely what they are.

My Hero Academia Got It Wrong: Why All For One's Real Enemy Was Bakugo From the Start

All For One and Bakugo Katsuki are two of the most important characters in the My Hero Academia manga. Despite how little they interacted, their actions were vital for the story to advance. From Bakugo inspiring Deku to keep chasing his dream of being a hero to the Symbol of Evil controlling the criminal world of Japan, the manga could never have worked without them.

Despite them often being associated with Izuku and not each other, many fans have noticed the importance All For One had on Bakugo’s arc. When analyzed closely, the series clarifies that the main villain served as Bakugo’s nemesis during the final arc. My Hero Academia: 15 Saddest Deaths
Image
My Hero Academia starts as a lighthearted superhero series, but as protagonist Izuku Midoriya and his friends strive to become true heroes, they realize how dark and brutal the hero world can be. Being a pro hero is dangerous work, and many heroes die when trying to save others, especially when faced with murderous villains. It's to be expected since heroes are committed to shielding the innocent with their very lives, but that may be of little comfort to the people they leave behind.

That said, even deceased villains might leave behind a heartbroken friend or lover who misses them. In other words, it's not just the heroes who have lost people. Villains, heroes, and civilians have lost loved ones thanks to All For One and his comrades who work to destroy history and society to enact a new world order. There aren't many notable deaths in Mha, but the...

Endeavor’s Fight Against All For One Had Deeper Meaning: Kohei Horikoshi Was Telling Us About Deku’s Future But Many of Us Missed It

Despite being lauded for its compelling storyline, Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia has received lots of criticism regarding its ending. Fans still can’t accept the fact that Deku has embraced a role as a teacher at the end of the series instead of becoming the number one hero in a traditional sense. However, looking back on a particular chapter from My Hero Academia, this future might have been predetermined by Horikoshi; which many fans may have overlooked.

My Hero Academia Foreshadowed Deku's Future Years Ago, But Most Fans Missed it

My Hero Academia: Endeavor Character Guide
Image
My Hero Academia first introduced the #1 pro hero, the symbol of peace All Might, then introduced his greatest rival, the flaming pro hero Endeavor. As the ambitious #2 pro hero, Endeavor named himself after his determination to fight his way to the top and make it his personal mission, a lifelong endeavor to become someone incredible. Over the course of his arc, Endeavor largely succeeded, but not in the ways he expected or even liked.

Endeavor's character can be assessed on a superficial level, such as the design of his hero costume and his Hellflame Quirk, but the true essence of this character lays in who he is and the effect he has had on the people around him. That includes Endeavor's strained relationship with his wife and children, his role as an antihero mentor for My Hero Academia's young protagonists, and the ongoing question of whether Endeavor even deserves redemption...

My Hero Academia Never Addressed It's Most Problematic Issue, & It Proves A Flaw In The Series' Ending
Image
Despite how fascinating and enjoyable the world of My Hero Academia can be, it still has many flaws that were addressed as the series progressed. From prejudices against individuals with heteromorph Quirk to discrimination against people because of villainous powers, the society created by Kohei Horikoshi draws heavy similarities to the real world.

One of the most problematic and horrifying issues shown in the series is the idea of Quirk Marriages. This taboo and frowned upon practice consisted of a wealthy family or individual buying a person to make them their spouse in the hope that their power could combine to create a powerful child. This horrid topic was not only mostly ignored by the often corrupt and uncaring Hero Society at large, but it was also completely forgotten once the ending of the series began.

10 Anime Villains Who Overstayed Their Welcome
Image
Ideally, the heroes and villains in anime will stick around exactly long enough to have a proper character arc and do what they must do, then bow out of the story. If a character lingers and overstays their welcome, their character arc will stall out, and they might even end up feeling downright redundant. In other cases, a character may overstay their welcome simply because they're annoying to watch and a little of them goes a long way.

That is sometimes the case with certain anime villains, who stubbornly keep fighting the heroes even after they've lost their most important battle. Some villains keep coming back for more even when they no longer stand a chance against the heroes, or they're so unbearable, anime fans want them to go away after their first battle or conflict. Such is the case for ten particular anime antagonists who felt like they were...

My Hero Academia's seventh season is nearing its finale, and if the season's latest episodes are any indication, then the long-awaited battle to defeat All For One is preparing to reach its climax. What Happened in My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 17 "Hopes"?
Image
The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 17, "Hopes," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

My Hero Academia's current battle isn't just a physical fight to see which side will emerge triumphant to reshape the future. Survival is on the line for every hero and villain in Season 7's final war, but there are more intangible and resonant stakes, too. Plenty of characters are fighting for a chance at redemption, with some deserving a second chance more than others. The series has often doled out second chances, but isn't naive enough to believe everyone deserves redemption.

Endgame battles hinge on hope, which is the perfect reason to title Episode 17 "Hopes" for many reasons. On a more personal level, the episode lends hope that wrongdoers can get a second chance to become someone wonderful and impact the world positively. Sukuna's True Form Reveal Shocks Jujutsu Kaisen's Fans (But It Makes Perfect Sense)
Image
Warning: Contains spoilers for chapter #268 of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen has finally revealed Sukuna's true form in his final moments and though it has shocked fans, it actually makes perfect sense. Despite being the ultimate final antagonist of the series, Jujutsu Kaisen has given Sukuna a rather pathetic ending with his final form following a growing trend in shonen manga.

After a long brutal battle, Sukuna is finally defeated in chapter #268 of Jujutsu Kaisen which also sees him finally forced out of Megumi's body. Surprisingly, without a host, Sukuna takes the form of an amorphous slime with only a single bulging eye and mouth. This form does not last very long and quickly disintegrates away, making Sukuna's final moments especially pathetic, especially given his pride until the very end.

Sukuna's final form was quite shocking as many fans perhaps expected the King of Curses to go down in a...

10 Best My Hero Academia Villains, Ranked
Image
My Hero Academia's villains have certainly given the series' heroes a run for their money over the years. With incredible Quirks, conniving plans, and a desire to watch heroes fall from power, these villains are not to be underestimated. Although most My Hero Academia villains despise heroes, they each hate them for vastly different reasons.

For example, Shigaraki hates heroes because he blames them for not saving him from a tragic childhood event, while Stain hates heroes because he disagrees with Pro Heroes being paid and adored by society for their efforts, believing that they should not accept material rewards and praise for their work. Additionally, these villains' Quirks are just as varied as their core beliefs. These evildoers are capable of truly atrocious acts using the powers they wield, including everything from burning enemies with flames to disintegrating living and non-living things.

My Hero Academia's Villain Could Have Won If He Focused on This Character's Power
Image
Warning: Spoilers for My Hero Academia's Final War arc

All for One never knew about Eri's Rewind Quirk, which could've changed the final battle drastically. Eri's power could've given All for One the chance to de-age himself and create a new immortal body. Eri's absence from All for One's knowledge spared her from becoming a target, altering the course of events.

My Hero Academia's big villain, All for One, is known for stealing the Quirks of others which he finds useful or interesting. However, there's one truly fascinating Quirk which All for One never even learned about, much less had the chance to steal: Eri's Rewind. It's a good thing All for One never learned of this Quirk's power, too, as it may have radically shifted things in his favor.

During the Shie Hassaikai arc, All for One is imprisoned in Tartarus, and is thus not aware...

My Hero Academia Finally Proved Why Deku is the Series' True Hero With its Final Battle
Image
Deku's heroism goes beyond saving Japan, as he reunites broken families and helps them heal from past trauma. His selflessness and kindness give hope to those who have suffered, like Tenko and Nana Shimura's family. Deku's actions show that true heroism is not just about defeating villains, but also about bringing peace and forgiveness.

My Hero Academias Deku is undoubtedly one of the most noble and empathetic characters of recent years. The young man is the embodiment of heroism, willing to sacrifice himself to save anyone in need. Nowhere is Dekus sacrifice and heroic nature better exemplified than during the final battle against All For One and Shigaraki.

Besides saving Japan from the Symbol of Evil himself, Deku accomplished a feat that no other Hero in the series did; reuniting a dead family and helping them overcome their trauma. During the fight, Deku not only saved Tenko from All for Ones control,...

What To Expect From The Rest of My Hero Academia Season 7
Image
My Hero Academia season 7 is shaping up to be the penultimate season of the anime, setting up major conflicts and plot resolutions. Expectations for season 7 should be managed, as resolutions between characters are unlikely and focus will be on impressive action. Dabi and Bakugo's fight with Shigaraki is a major plot point that'll likely be covered in the upcoming season.

Expectations can set an audience up for failure, for their desires to be met, or for a series to go beyond viewers' imaginations. It's important to have a standard in mind, as this allows audiences to judge the quality of the media they're consuming. That said, expectations can also be incredibly unrealistic, which can be a recipe for disappointment.

My Hero Academia is an anime that has hyped up audiences across the world for almost a decade now and the anime has cultivated an incredibly wide audience. The show has created multiple plot threads,...

The Boys Season 4 And My Hero Academia Are The Unlikely Superhero Double Feature You Need Right Now
Image
"The Boys" is back for season 4 and things are as bleak as ever. Homelander is not just in charge of Vought, but his murdering of an innocent man in broad daylight has earned him even more supporters than ever. (We're well past the point of Homelander being a Trump allegory in subtext only.) There's also the problem of Butcher being terminally ill, while head-exploder Newman is even closer to the White House than before.

The most important subplot of season 4 seems to be the duel of fates that is the fight for the soul of young Ryan Butcher. Last season, Butcher got scared of getting close to the kid and ended up pushing Ryan right into the arms of his dad, Homelander. He could have been a normal kid, or even the greatest weapon against Homelander, but now he's his apprentice instead.

Just as showrunner Eric Kripke teased last year,...

This My Hero Academia Character's Redemption Has Fans Split
Image
The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 7.

Yuga Aoyama's revelation as an All For One double agent challenges fans to decide his fate. Moral ambiguity among heroes adds depth to My Hero Academia's story. Yuga and his parents chose to do villainous things, but Yuga can atone for that with his actions, making him similar to Endeavor.

Protagonist Izuku Midoriya has had plenty of drama so far in his character arc in My Hero Academia, such as his shnen-style rivalry with Katsuki Bakugo, while his classmates also get their turn with emotionally turbulent and sometimes controversial story arcs. Redemption, in particular, has become a major theme for these characters, starting with Endeavor and Bakugo and now it is Yuga Aoyama's turn to come to terms with what he has done.

In the anime's first six seasons, Yuga Aoyama was presented as a goofy and inconsequential side character...

All For One Should Have Been More Like This Naruto Villain Here's Why
Image
Quick Links All For One Was Meant To Be An Unstoppable Criminal Mastermind, But Falls Short Orochimaru Is Everything That All For One Should Have Been

Mild Spoilers for My Hero Academia

The hit anime series My Hero Academia is reaching its most climactic moments, meaning that the major conflicts tied to the villain All For One will be faced head-on by Deku and his allies. As the major villain, All For One Afo for short has become more integrated into each episode, but sadly, his important role has fallen flat. Not every villain is meant to be exactly the same, but compared to another similar character, Afo missed some critically important details.

As his role in the story grows, it becomes clear that All For One isn't the most effective villain. Similar in villainous approach and style, the character Orochimaru, from Naruto, is the best example of what Afo should have been all along.

Image
The following contains major spoilers for My Hero Academia Chapter 423, "One For All vs. All For One," by Horikoshi Kohei, Caleb Cook and John Hunt.

After literal years of high-stakes Quirk battles, nail-biting cliffhangers and emotionally poignant goodbyes to some of its most beloved characters, My Hero Academias final war officially comes to an end with Chapter 423. While this chapter included a definitive end to All For Ones oppressive legacy, its lack of closure in certain respects betrays that theres still some more story to tell. Even if the main conflict was resolved, there are still several loose ends that need to be tied up before the series can reach a satisfactory conclusion.

My Hero Academia Chapter 423 "One For All vs. All For One" is the first installment in a while that is centered on All For One instead of Deku and the other Pro Heroes. As the supervillain inches ever closer to defeat,...

Season 7 of My Hero Academia is now in full swing and the plot is already moving at a breakneck pace, which is exactly what the show needs. Their fight is now over as of Episode 3, but the plot twists are still coming and it's a delight to watch.

Episode 3, "Villain," explores the villainy of All For One in two different ways, some more compelling than others. Right now, All For One is competing with his own heir, Tomura Shigaraki, to determine who the real supervillain is, which may lead to a rather confusing narrative.
