Engel mit schmutzigen Flügeln

My guess is that this film is only really of interest to people who like to watch "mainstream" films containing explicit sex

If you judge it by that criteria alone then this film rates 10 out of 10 - the lead actress is very pretty and the sex scenes are super hot ( they avoided showing any actual penetration )

The low ratings are probably because, sadly, the film fails in most other aspects (but don't let that put you off as its still worth a watch if you fall into the above category )

I have to admire the lead actress for having the guts to do this movie - apparently she became famous/infamous for promoting her 'sex ambitions' according to wikipedia

Roland Reber and his usual ensemble of actors have over many films created a universe that explores the deepest regions of sexual freedom. Whether you approve of the display of sex on the screen, in all its glory, or would rather be wooed more subtly by the turn of a wrist or ankle, sex is still the topic.

Marina Eich and Antje Monning bravely and enjoyably "go there" in several of these films and are worth watching not just for their beauty, but for their enthusiasm. Monning's explicit sex scenes in this film are certainly hot and she throws herself into them with relish.

But it's about more than the sex and nudity, it's also about empowering women. Antje Nikola Monning was an early proponent of the Free the Nipple movement and campaigns for fully equal access and rights. These Angels with Dirty Wings are out to liberate women from the shackles of having to answer to anyone but themselves.

So, is it a good movie? It isn't great. The non-actors used in many of the scenes deaden the progression, and the script is lacking in depth as well. But it is very hot and very sexy and Antje Nikola Monning is a joy to watch whatever she does.

"Angels with Dirty Wings" (2009, Germany, "Engel mit Schmutzigen Flügeln"), is another low-budget sexploitation offering by the German husband-and-wife team of Roland Reber and Maria Anna Eich. This offering focuses on the "live your truth" principle, which two of the Angels (the only ones we know off) seeks to instil into a candidate who applied to join their MCC. The stoic Angels "guides" the initiate through the staggered and stilted sharing of philosophical ideology. The initiate's truth essentially boils down to her shagging anything which moves and by doing so exercising control in the situation and thus in her life. As such, the storyline is not complex nor the message of the film, which in more complex films would need to also rely on aspects such as, cinematography, editing, atmosphere, clever symbolism etc. This despite, most filmmaking aspects worked pretty well and more than mere traces of an intentional and artistic atmosphere is created. Acting could have been a lot better (esp. By the stoics) and the script substantially more refined and developed, but given the available budget and substantial task sharing, the film works well enough. 6/10.
