Totally refreshing tv. Stumbled across this after seeing an ad. 2 episodes in and I was hooked.
If you liked the weird vibe that the legendary tv series Misfits gave you and are a fan of the unbeatable Spaced with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Jessica Haynes then this is a show you can get into.
It's not high budget, but the cast are brilliant. Each character has a back story you want to explore, and have difficult intricate quirks that add to the story.
The lead played by Máiréad Tyers bring a realism to the happenings that works in this unusual world. The entire cast are perfectly cast in this unusual setting.
Is it for everyone? No Is it worth watching? Yes Did I laugh? Oh yes!
Did I cry? No, but got feels Did I binge it? Yes, I had to.
Where did I watch it? Star on Disney+ (uk)

This is the kind of comedy we Brits have excelled at for the last 40 years.
Set in a world where at 18 most people inherit a super power, we follow Jen, a 25 year old who still hasn't been granted her power.
There are some cool and original powers in the series. Jen's best friend can channel the dead, her mum has the power to control Tech but has no clue how modern gadgets work and we meet a man who can 3D print items from his arse, graffiti artists who can walk on walls and a woman trapped in the body of a teenage girl.
Although the main plot is following Jen as she tries to fit in and find her ability, the show is filled with brilliant characters and great sight gags.
Full of toilet humour and sure to offend many it's truly funny.

I must admit, when Disney+ first recommended this to me I expected it to be an American show aimed at teens, and I immediately wrote it off. Thank goodness my curiosity later prevailed!
Set in the UK, Extraordinary is centred around a group of 25 year olds in a world where everyone has powers... except Jen.
Much the same energy as Sex Education and Derry Girls, it shows (mostly) real life situations, turned up a notch thanks to shape-shifting, super strength, teleportation, and flight.
Each episode is around 30 mins and has a mid-credit scene. Great casting, writing, and relatable storylines make this a must watch for any fan of British comedy/drama.
Relieved to see it has already been confirmed for a second season.

When Tim Kring's HEROES first appeared in 2007 -- about humans born with odd abilities -- it was a cultural milestone. Even late-night talk show hosts could not resist praising the series. That was then, this is now. Now shows about people with "powers" abound. This Disney UK release approaches the topic from the viewpoint of "coming of age," with notes of empathy, deadpan British humor, and overall sweetness. Good casting, good acting, and good scripts generally deliver the goods. Not an action series, not an adventure series, no werewolves or witches. Just people. Recommended. It's good.
I'm just relieved to watch anything these days that isn't a spiteful pseudo moral lecture set to marginalise normal people. Extraordinary is extraordinary in so much as it is a new TV show that doesn't do the afore mentioned and is genuinely funny, accessible & touching.
Good work everybody.
The lead actress is wonderfully relatable & has a touch of screen magic about her.
I've only watched the first episode, but, I do hope this nugget of escapism continues in the vain it's set out in.
P. S. Like the aesthetic too. It has a touch of the 70s/80s about it. There's something nostalgic in the viewing.

- CuriosidadesThe series has a reoccurring musical cue which is not an original composition for the show, but is actually a remixed instrumental of the song "Pepper" by the Butthole Surfers. The song is about societal criticism when being viewed by others and brushes with death. This ties back to the lead character Jen who is looked down upon for not having super powers and is told how they are going to die in the first episode.
- Erros de gravaçãoJizzlord is a male shape shifter, but when in cat form he presents as a black tortoiseshell. While male tortoiseshell cats can exist, they are very rare (about 1 in 3,000 cats).
