ABC is bringing back “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” for a special primetime run of episodes hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, featuring only celebrity guests, in honor of the game show’s 20th anniversary.

ABC head Karey Burke announced the news Wednesday at the Television Critics’ Associations Winter Press Tour.

The updated version of the game show will feature a few changes, including a new rule that celebrities playing the game can invite any guest to help them answer questions and win money for a charity of their choosing. ABC is also introducing a live, interactive app that allows viewers to compete from home for the same amount of money celebrities play for in the show. A lineup of celebrity players will be announced at a later date.

Christmas movies are generally full of romance and sweetness, but few of them are as romantic and as sweet as the 2006 cheesy classic The Holiday. Starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black, and Eli Wallach, the story of two women swapping places for the holiday season is one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time, no matter how corny and cliche it may be.

But though the film relies heavily on conventions of both romantic comedies and Christmas classics, The Holiday also manages to be uniquely its own movie, thanks in large part to the strength of its main characters. Here, we take a look back at the ten sweetest moments in this movie full of feel good scenes.

During the '90s and early '00s, a classic subgenre resurged that imposed itself as a favorite among women: romcom. The renaissance had considerable success for about two decades, so much so that some very well know actors such as Demi Moore, Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, and Hugh Grants made it their go-to for some time. However, over the last decade, romcoms have made themselves shy as women all around the globe put their foot down and affirmed themselves in our society.

Though they seem innocent enough at first, most romcoms are in fact problematic in the way they portray women and their apparent need for a man to feel complete. Some classic romcoms would simply not work today as they are too far from what women ant today while others remain timeless.

What a difference a decade makes.

At the beginning of the 2010s, the Oscars were already showing signs of change: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had expanded the Best Picture category from five to 10 nominees and given the Best Director award to a woman for the first time ever, while also looking for new income sources as Oscar show ratings fell and the economic downturn hit AMPAS investments.

Even so, nobody could have foreseen just how dramatically the awards, and the Academy that hands them out, would be transformed over the next 10 years. While the 1930s saw the Oscars grow from seven categories decided by committee to 20 categories and thousands of voters, and the 1950s put the Oscars on television, it’s hard to find a more transformational decade than the 2010s.

Lee Mendelson, the longtime producer of Peanuts TV specials who wrote the lyrics for the yuletide classic “Christmas Time Is Here,” died on Christmas Day at the age of 86.

Mendelson’s sons confirmed the A Charlie Brown Christmas producer’s death following a long battle with lung cancer to the Palo Alto Daily Post. “It wasn’t great for us, but to have him pass on Christmas really ties into his history and legacy,” his sons said.

Before we get into this, let’s make one thing very clear. There’s no doubt in our minds that Die Hard is one of the best Christmas movies ever. It also remains as one of the best action films around, too, but it is very much a Christmas flick, despite what people will try to tell you.

Most of the networks went with repeats Monday, but CBS shined bright like a star on Christmas Eve with another primetime edition of The Price Is Right: Holiday Extravaganza, where Seth Rogen was called upon to bid his heart out and participate in the showcase showdown. The special earned a 0.9 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 6.57 million viewers, up two-tenths from Sunday night’s episode with the cast of Seal Team.

The special was the night’s top-rated and most-watched show, helping CBS win the won the night in both metrics. Some numbers, however, may be adjusted later on CBS and Fox due to NFL preemptions.

NBC and ABC both repeated earlier holiday specials. NBC had Holidays With the Houghs and the two-hour SNL Christmas, the latter on par with its first December 5 airing, while ABC had the two-hour Lea Michele-led Same Time, Next Christmas.

Seth Rogen came on down to the second night of CBS’ holiday themed “Price is Right” special and it was enough for the network to capture the Monday ratings win, though most viewers were pre-occupied with preparing for Santa’s arrival this week.

CBS led the Christmas Eve Eve night in both the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demo and total viewers with an overall o.7 rating and 4.96 million total viewers. The special improved from Sunday with a 0.9 rating and 6.6 million viewers, and was the highest rated and most-watched show on Monday.

NBC edged out Fox and ABC for second on a night when neither of them aired original programming. NBC, which re-aired its “SNL” Christmas” clip special, finished with a 0.5 and 2.7 million viewers. Fox and ABC tying in the demo with a 0.4 apiece, though ABC took more viewers with 2.6 million to 1.9 million.

That’s what Trump told the conservative student group, Turning Point USA, during a speech on Sunday in Florida.

Trump explained that during his 2016 candidacy he promised to fix the issue of “they” attempting to take the word “‘Christmas’ out of Christmas.”

Harry Styles sophomore album, Fine Line, makes a massive debut at Number One this week on the Rolling Stone Top 200 Albums Chart, moving 510,100 total album units for the week of December 13th through December 19th.

We still don't have the first A Quiet Place 2 teaser that debuted in theaters this past weekend with Black Christmas. But we do have a brand new image from A Quiet Place 2. The first movie proved to be one of the truly unexpected hits of 2018. As such, a sequel became a top priority for Paramount Pictures. John Krasinski, who not only starred in the original but directed as well, returns (behind the camera at least). Sophia Takal’s reimagining of Black Christmas cuts past the male gaze, creating a send-up of the genre in the era of Time’s Up. A somewhat revolutionary film in concept by continuing to subvert expectations, this 2019 version flips various slasher film tropes and reframes sexist expectations of the “sexy co-ed slasher flick” for an era in which norms have radically changed. Unlike Get Out and other recent genre flicks that mix social commentary, unfortunately it never quite pulls everything off. Being woke, funny, and scary all at once is indeed a difficult feat to achieve, but at least Takal’s new take is more admirable than the standard slasher film as it has a different kind of sex and violence on the brain.

Black Christmas places its agenda first and foremost and is the rare film where its characters actually talk like smart Ivy League students rather than paper-thin tropes.

Few things are as popular and as associated with the Christmas entertainment season as the Hallmark Channel's beloved and seemingly endless slate of Christmas movies. For over a decade, Hallmark has been producing sweet and seasonal movies with romantic twists, that often find two total strangers and opposites coming together and falling in love just in time for Christmas.

Though many of these movies follow the same overarching patterns and themes, not all of the Hallmark Channel's couples are created equal. Some lack chemistry, and some lack a compelling story. But other couples, the following ten included, rank among some of the best Christmas romances of all time.

With Christmas right around the corner, Saturday Night Live made fun of those awkward political discussions many families will have to suffer through on December 25.

For this weekend’s cold open, the NBC sketch comedy series dissected how the conversation shifts in different parts of the country.

The sketch kicked off with Aidy Bryant saying the country is “more divided than ever,” but families have more in common than they think. To prove her point, she hacked into three home cameras for a bird’s-eye view.

First up, a family dinner in San Francisco.

“I’m so happy that everyone flew here for the holidays and I’m even more happy that they did it! They’re impeaching Trump,” Cecily Strong says.

Her family agrees. “I don’t know what took them so long. Trump is a criminal!” adds Kyle Mooney.

“He violated the constitution,” Bowen Yang says. “There has to be consequences.
